It started because most western hunters hunted more mule deer than anything. Since mule deer often times do not grow significant or even any eye guards then we count the "points" that mean much..as far as whitetail is concerned it is just tradition...

Great 3 x 3. If your really concerned about calling each point a point you better not count the end of the main beams..all record books don't let you count them as beams AND points...btw grow up a bit...

IMO one of the most difficult late season tags to have. If you want your boys to have success then I wouldn't have them pass much of anything, maybe some spikes or so, but it can be difficult to hunt this unit. Good luck and have fun and I agree with non-typ, children especially boys can learn as much or more by spending time the woods with a father or other adult than being cooped up in a class room.

I had this bull at 30 yards 2 times in 2010 and couldn't seal the deal, man I'm a bit jealous but nice job.

That is a super bull out of a tough unit, and not to be disrespectful but he doesn't look that big, but I would have shot him any day of the week in most units. Super bull and a huge congrats.
