Well, since I'm getting ready to head to Mexico I figured i would share the year we had. We had limited tags in our family this year, but we had some great hunts and had a great time. I shot this Mexico buck on the last day last evening after passing up many others broken or not exactly what I wanted. There was 16 bucks on the hillside and this was the dominant buck. Others would have scored better but this one gave me a bedded shot at a long range, and here he is on my wall. Next was my UT buck at 33 yards NM antelope Son's first Coues I had the privilege of helping out on quite a few elk hunts, some big bulls were killed, but none of my family had tags (0 for 3 on cow tags) and so we are having to buy beef for the first time in 10+ years. For many years we use nothing but elk for all our burger. I am lucky enough to be headed to Mexico in a couple days to start off 2013, hopefully we get a few more tags and can be blessed again. Thanks.

Holy freakin crap....that is awesome...great job... -
Last week I had the pleasure of spending a few days in some rough country with my boy on a backpack trip. It was a left over tag and with direction from a good friend, (thanks Mason) we managed to tough it out enough for my son to take his first Coues. It was bedded at 400 yards and he made a great one shot kill. I was extremely worried how he would do packing all that we needed for those three days, but I didn't have to worry. He was extremely tough, didn't complain and had a great attitude. He kept saying he was going to kill one that was bigger than all of mine, but when it came down to it, he was happy to shoot this buck on the 3rd day. As most young boys are, he had a hard time being patient enough to glass, so he would ask me questions about survival, try a few survival techniques out, throw rocks, ask me questions about life and be a boy. All in all I was extremely fortunate to spend this time with my son, make some memories, teach him some of the little I know and bond with my oldest boy. We had some great tent conversations, cooking over a small stove and rationing water and food. Enjoy a few pictures.

If you add an extra plate to bottom of outdoorsman adapter it works perfectly for us with narrow eyes.

its 36a..pretty normal -
Casey, actually I put my foam pads between the packs on the way down because of how steep the hill was and I tried to counterbalance myself going down. At this point it was all down hill. It actually worked wonders. On the way up, the packs and rifle were close to my back and the foam pads on the outside. Thanks for the kind remarks it was truly a blessing to spend the time with my son. My pack wasn't very heavy, Even though I was packing for two of us, over the years I've acquired a ton of quality light weight tents, stoves, bags etc... so I was pretty efficient with my weight. Next time I won't bring my spotting scope though. Even though I did get some footage of a small buck at over a 1000 yards away. It wasn't worth the weight.

congrats to your son. awesome time and memories

Mine shot better with 90 grains of retumbo through a schneider barrel. 92 works great in most factory guns from what ive heard
