You will search and find a thousand different answers on the best way to tune. Here is my take... Paper tune is not perfect. 1. it doesn't take into count distance from paper etc.. A perfect tear at 10 feet may not be perfect at 7 or 12. 2. String/cable stretch does and will happen over time, and will cause a change in paper tear, hence arrow flight. Broad head or walk back tuning or other types of tune may not be perfect either. All tuning is dependent on grip/torque/spine etc..Even the best archers in the world don't have perfect form in every situation, (none that I know of, some better than others ) What I do: (real world application for those of us not perfect) 1. Get as close to center shot as possible 2. paper tune at various distances and get the "best" tear I can. 3. walk back method (sometimes) 4. Broad head tune with a fixed, mechanical and field tip, only making very small adjustments. IMO if your broad heads and field tips hit together, your grip/torque is being accounted for and arrows are flying true. A broad head will exacerbate any imperfections and tuning issues. especially a fixed broad head. By this time I can shoot any broad head, for the most part, and have it impact the same as my field tips up to 100 yards.. (judging on my abilities as a shooter) In my experience anything over 90-100 yards broad heads will tend to shoot slightly lower than field tips. Mostly due to a decrease in aerodynamics on ANY broad head from field tip.

Very cool story and wonderful Bull.

I've used the Blue Kazoo from North Face for many years. Works well and quite light, Cat's Meow is good.

2013 Bowtech Experience $600 bare bow.
WHT_MTNMAN replied to desertbowhunter's topic in Classified Ads
Probably my favorite bow up to this point....Very good combination of shootability and speed. Bump for a good bow at reasonable price. -
If you haven't checked tune since last year my bet is string stretch or something like that....also I had some of the same issues with a non vented head...much more sucesptible to torque and speed..

Great shot on an Awesome, heavy buck. that is too cool.

very cool buck, Congrats to you guys. -
That is exactly what he scored how did you know?? Give or take 35"
-
This is the exact reason I take every score offered up on the Internet with a grain of salt!!!
-
Trphyhntr- You score the end "point" as the main beam, not as a point. it has 3 scoreable points and a main beam. You guys are cracking me up. The problem arises when most of us use the end "point" or beam in our discussion such as a 4x4 mulie, with or without eyeguards. That is due to most mule deer having limited or no eyeguards. (yet if present they are still scoreable whereas the main beam cannot be scored as a point.) A 4x4 mule deer without eye guards will only have 3 scoreable points. (and a main beam measurement) Most of us myself included will still call this a 3x3 coues deer. And as said before, a great one at that. Congrats on a great buck.!!

Might Want to Sell Property near Heber - Good Realtor?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to Heat's topic in Classified Ads
I've been looking at homes and land for the last few years and I can tell you that bare land is still on the low side. Without looking at it specifically I would bet an agent would say it is about 15k an acre, but my guess is that it won't sell at that price. Probably closer to 8-10k an acre. Again just a guess. -

Thanks TJ, he will fit perfectly with the others in the collection. Rossislider find a group that has done it many times before and has an opening, that is how I started 6 years ago. Split eye-guard was a bonus, we missed it at 500 yards, Scored 107 for any one interested with tall 17" beams. -
Great buck Blake!!
-
Looks like a stud for sure!!!

I shoot a multi-pin slider just for that reason, but if I was doing it, 40 or 45 would be where I would have it locked into place.
