Nice photos and story. That truly is what it is all about. Spending time with family.

That is crazy, still an absolute awesome Ram.

Congrats Blake and Jared that right horn is truly impressive!! Do you have any front pictures to see the broomed left horn? Just curious on the difference. One of these days I'll get a tag I hope. It was a good year for Jared.

Wont anybody do anything about the lack of rain?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to MT_Sourdough's topic in The Campfire
I've been praying since August. It is incredibly dry up here. -
Great year...congrats on a great late bull.

Is legally sitting over bait or water actually hunting? BTW Ive killed 4 big game animals under 10 yards ( not in a blind or stand) and have touched 3 live animals 2 elk and 1 deer and so I know about being close. Personally I believe it is more fulfilling to be close but that is why I have a wall full of 90" and only a couple around and over 110

Well I'll throw my .02 in. I consider myself an bowhunter that uses a rifle on occasion. Bowhunters get to hunt the best times, (rightfully so I might add, with the lower success rates) during the velvet and middle of the rut etc..... 12 yards can be done regularly during those time, In my experience significantly more regular than during rifle season. (ie, water, stands, salt, rattling, grunting etc...) So I guess no I don't consider a 12 yards bow shot more of an accomplishment than an 850 yard rifle shot. Forky vs 110. Last year alone I passed up 2 different bucks at under 20 yards, not a recurve though. Apples to Apples, both during the same seasons than maybe the greater accomplishment would be the 12 yard shot on a forky. IMO

Its very difficult to find a good bull in 3a/3c in the late hunts. There are always a few found but it can be a very difficult hunt. Most of the bulls have disappeared and it will only get worse the next few weeks.

2017 rifle coues biggest buck to date
WHT_MTNMAN replied to shurtzgarret's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Giant Coues, and awesome buck for your girlfriend. That is a stud buck and I'm sure is in high teens and may make 120+. I'm jealous, I've killed close to 20 Coues bucks in AZ and Mx and am still looking for one like that. Congrats -
Nice!! I've only seen a few in all my years growing up here...

Congrats Deagan on a great buck! Great shooting!

Great shooting Draysen, congrats on a fine buck. You are going to have more big game kills than many of us, lots of years older. So cool. Just so you know I'm putting in with you next year.

Brother’s nice south-of-the-ditch muley
WHT_MTNMAN replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Great buck, congrats to you guys -
Great buck! it really hurts the "real" scoring system when people post 160" mule deer and say 180" and 90" Coues saying 105" that is a stud buck and one you don't pass in many places.. Congrats to your brother.

Its funny I get grief all the time for not "getting excited" I always am a wreck on the inside but for some reason I never feel the need to yell or scream or anything. Well my son is fairly similar and he kind of was embarrassed by yelling out loud. I told him never to apologize for having a great time and showing emotion when you accomplish something. It was a great experience. Thanks everyone for the kind words.
