I read all the comments first then clicked on the link and as it was loading I read the title and thought some idiot shot a fake moose in AZ. I was thinking that had to be one of the stupidest things ever done.

Hunting Accidents
WHT_MTNMAN replied to desertsheep's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Well I've also been pretty lucky, bunch of twisted ankles etc.. but nothing bad. Funny about the fish hook, as soon as I saw that post I remember my first time fly-fishing, my arm went a little horizontal and the hook on the fly caught my buddy in the ear as I jerked it forward. tore out the bottom portion of his ear, we haven't talked much since. -

Funny thing is not everyone knows that, the marketing works for most people. We also did a few penny experiments in the chem classes i took -

Applied for bonus points in CO Getting the bow ready for Kansas turkey
-
azpackhorse- I went and got an xt. I shot most of the new bows, including bowtech, hoyt, mathews and really like the Trykon and Switchback, finally decided on the switchback xt, the valley on the Trykon i didn't like and had a negative experience with bowtech reps, and the xt felt great. My buddy has a farm in Kansas and we are going back and we will use a blind. I still can't wait for August, I'm determined to take my first coues this year ( i said that last year, getting a little closer )

What Worked and What Didn't?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I used the Eberlstock just one pack to pack out Coues buck and all gear, tripod and 15x's etc... and had room left over. Not that I could have picked it up anyway. I was very pleased. I had the chance to try out the Montec G5's and loved them. They really did a number on the rocks behind a Coues buck. Actually one in August and then again in Jan. If I could hit the broadside of a barn when I get excited I might have better news, anyway I guess I get another day or two before the end of season. I also bought a knife from Arizona Guide Bark River knife and tool and caped and quartered a mule deer of my brothers and my Coues buck and a few odds and ends and would recommend them, as long as it comes back okay from getting sharpened. -
I bet he is pretty close to where he ran out of blood, but I don't know. That sure sucks, I hope you get to find him.

That is awesome, congrats on the nice bucks.

I was wondering how many times most of you shoot at a Coues every year? This year I've stalked a bunch of bucks and pulled my bow back half a dozen times but have only let the arrow fly twice. Once in August at the buck I ended up harvesting in November and once a couple of days ago. Both times I've made stupid mistakes due to the excitement of harvesting my first Coues with a bow. Last week I ranged a buck at 38 yards and put my 30 yard pin on him So lets hear it, how many times do you shoot at a deer each year, or how many times did you shoot before you got your first Coues?
-
Well, sure glad to see I'm not the only one missing I like the attitude you can't hit anything if you don't shoot. One of these days. Maybe this week.

I don't have time or money to apply this year but I'm trying to scrape enough for bonus points
