WHT_MTNMAN replied to bullwidgeon's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer

Nice sequence that is really cool. Congrats on such a fine animal. One of these days I'll make it up there.

short video clip of a Coues buck
WHT_MTNMAN replied to azryan's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
You have to go to options and then click on share or make public or something like that. Then everyone has access to you account. That is the only way I know how to do it. Houston -
nice job... congrats on the good bull
-
That is your opinion... At coues I want every bit of accuracy out to 50+ yards. I did not feel the WB gave that too me.
-
I didn't like the whisker bisquit because it contacted my vanes, and to me this meant decrease in accuracy, i don't care about the speed to much. I also have the rip cord but am looking for another full containment rest that is a drop away. Benefit of the bisquit is that is is inexpensive for a good rest.

At the closest I think he was under 4 yards I figue I released at about 7 yards. It was a great hunt and I feel blessed to finally have drawn a tag. Even with the limited amount of time I had it worked out nicely. thanks for the good words. Houston

Here is a pic of the crew. Thanks to Dan (right) and Andy (left), couldn't have done it without you.

Very nice pictures Dan. I like that sunset pic and the bear pics.

what ya think
WHT_MTNMAN replied to have2bhuntn's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
That bull is at least 330. Huge fronts, thirds like no other and the 4th on the right side is very nice and decent length on main beam. Just the angle makes it look not as long. I'm not saying he is a monster but he is a good bull. I think if you took that same bull and put him on the ground with some good still pics, everyone would guess in the 350's JMO> -
What a stud... I'm glad to see him shoot another great buck. I also like to see the kids and the smiles. That is what hunting is all about.

I finally killed the buck I have been chasing for a year
WHT_MTNMAN replied to bowsniper's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Sweet buck, those are the kinds of stories that make it all worth while. You find a buck, and watch him and then harvest him. very nice.. I don't wear scent loc but I think I agree with you. Awesome -
I have an old camo shirt that is one of my favorites and it is a light tan with darker tan colors and the only words I can find on it are Sniper with a trade mark sign TM next too it. Any one know who the original maker is? I really like the pattern but cannot find anything about it on the net. Here is a pic... it is the outside shirt that is the one i'm wanting. This is my first coues deer tag and deer.

Anyone have any stories from this weekend?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to matthewp45's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Beautiful buck. I've been waiting for some good stories on spot and stalk. Very nice. -
I think they'll grow unitl first week in Sept. and then stop and start to harden up. Last year I missed a buck the last weekend of the early seaon still in velvet. I shot him with my rifle in Nov and he looked like he shrunk.

Anyone out there wanna go practice for bowhunting
WHT_MTNMAN replied to eric's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Bass- Usery pass is still the same, except most days they have someone there to take your money. It is $5 per person for the archery range. -
10x50 or 12x50 for for glassing coues?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to kphunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Whatever you get..... get a tripod... It is more than worth its weight for Coues. If you think you'll hunt Coues more than a year or two, get 15x's but get the best high power glass that you can afford. -
I shot most of the newer bows like Dug and decided on the XT. All new bows are nice, find one that shoots/feels better for you.

36a Nov WT tag Finally drew the archery elk tag I've been wanting for 15 years.

I've been hunting in this unit for the last 4 years and it is a good unit. Preseason scouting will pay big dividends.
