    Which season for coues?

Just to spur some discussion, which hunt do you prefer to hunt coues in; the October, November or December hunt? I think they all have their postiives and negatives...ie draw odds, rut, deer activity, etc... I would like to hunt the December hunt, but lately it seems the rut has come late, not to mention the tougher draw odds. I would think the October hunt would be good cause the deer haven't been pushed by other hunters, but it's usually a 3 day season. The November hunt is a longer hunt, giving one time to hunt an area more then during the Oct season, but you've already had one hunt and the rut is still far off... So which do you choose? Scott G.

    Arizona Coues Association

You can count on me being there...I think it's a great thing for ALL deer in AZ. Scott G.

    Following Scotts advice.

I'm just glad my YEARS of experience and expertise in this arena and vast knowledge has been passed on to those less fortunate and have been able to turn their failures into successes. I'm just proud to help... Bullpigeon- Those are some nice sheds...good job. Maybe I'l take my own advise! hehe Scott G...glad people didn't take me too seriously...

    what broadhead do you use?

I've used Vortex and Rocky Mtn Snipers...I've shot animals with both, but I must say I was very impressed with the Snipers and how they worked on my mule deer earlier this year in NM. I'm considering switching to a Rocky fixed 3 blade...especially IF i get drawn for elk...but for coues, I would think any well constructed SHARP broadhead would work well. I would probably even lean towards a mechanical head cause of the better pin point accuracy needed for such a small animal. You're not bringing down an elephant, so I would use a mechanical over a fixed, unless you have deadly fixed heads...just my 2 pesos. Scott G.

    Unit 31 & 32 comparison

Red Rabbit- I hunted 32 & 32 for the better part of 10 years. Now I'm not claiming to be a coues expert...but I do know of a few areas you could get into that would 1) get you away from the crowds 2) hold deer, or these areas did as of 2 years ago... If you're seriously considereing this, e-mail me and I'll tell you on a map where I would go if I were you! Scott G.

    Rifle caliber

If and when I get drawn fro these tiny crap deer, I'll either use my .270 or 7mm mag...BUT I am looking into getting the .284 Firebird by Lazzeroni! That caliber smokes... Scott G
