    Second Post.....2014 Archery Javelina

Only time I've seen hooves like that is when the pigs live by a river. Must be a boar? Pretty neet to shot one like that. Only good time to mount a javelina is when they have something weird going on like that. Nice shooting!

Anyone buy a deer tag today?

Bought mine thanksgiving week. I was the only one in there. They printed me a tag and a license. No Wait. I hate lines and I hate people that make wait time in lines longer.

2013 Bull 3rd tags the Charm

My 2013 elk hunt story. My brother (Randy) and I took the whole 2 weeks off of work. This would be my 3rd tag with no bull to show as of yet. I told Randy I wanted a 340 bull or bigger. I could go home with nothing if it wasn’t the bull I wanted. I would wait for tag number 4 if I had to and I would be alright with that. This year’s rut was really slow but we got into elk every day. When not being messed up by elk at less than 10 yards or other hunter’s on their ATV’s we had a great time. Every spot we went into we seen elk. I passed on some rag horns and spikes early on. By the time the second Friday came around we were thinking when was this rut going to kick in. On that Friday morning we finally heard some bugles down in the canyon we were in opening morning. This bull sounded really big. When we were on our way to him we could hear him raking a tree. I start moving in quickly looking for other elk and the bull to make sure nothing spots me moving in this fast. I get to 35 yards and I can see his legs, bottom of his belly and his head with his huge fronts. I’m looking frantically for a shot window but this bull is in the perfect position for me not to get a shot. As quickly as it started it ended with the bull’s cows that I never spotted busted. After talking to my brother about this bull we guessed him about 370-375. I was crushed after not getting a shot at that bull. The next morning we are in the same canyon but opposite side and had a single bull bugling. He bedded down quickly after some wood cutter’s got to work. He bugled once an hour in his bed throughout the day. When 4 o’clock came around we starting heading his direction. We could hear him raking a tree and bugling here and there. The bull’s cows spotted us moving through and they busted. So we moved quickly to get to a spot that was between him and where he left his cows. We could see him through the trees and we set up on a trail we thought he might take back to his cows. We could see the bull moving through the trees on the trail we wanted him to take. Then we lose him behind some junipers. We were praying and hoping he would take the low road at 40 yards and not the high road at 55 yards. Then I can see his nose and fronts moving through the lower trail and I draw. He’s just feeding so it takes him awhile to move through. He finally clears the trees, I checked my bubble and put my 40 pin where I wanted it and the shot breaks totally by surprise. When the shot broke I closed my eyes for a split second and prayed “please be right”. By the time I opened my eyes I heard a “thunk” the bull tensed up and took a couple steps towards us trying to catch his breath. His legs get shaky and falls over. That Wac’em broadhead worked perfect. The bull didn’t go 5 yards and died within 30 seconds. Words couldn’t describe the emotions that my brother and I had watching this hunt take place and end right in front of us. When the bull fell I noticed that he had a split 3rd on one side. The bull ended up gross scoring 345 as an 8x6. This is the biggest bull our family has killed to date. This is the bull I have been waiting for my entire life. Once we got done with pictures and phone calls we got to work really quickly. When we made it to the front shoulder we noticed that he already had a broadhead stuck in his shoulder. It was a 3 blade Wal-Mart special Allen Broadhead. When my brother seen this he told me “this bull was meant for you”. If you look in the background the broken branch above the bull that’s the trail that I shot him on! I would like to thank my brother Randy for being there for me on this hunt and our families for letting us hunt as much as we do. I would also thank Armando (AJRUIZ) for the help packing out my bull. Thanks for reading. B.J. aka-120CARP

What do you consider a big bull

anything bigger than 340 looks big. I had a 370 bull at 35 yards and that thing is a monster.
