So I guess by the title you all know my question. The new cams are great with wifi and all. But I'm cheap. What's the best older model cam out there for less than $80. Doesn't have to score and age the deer by itself, just takes a picture so I know what's there.

Anyone else have there Fort Huachuca Hunt Code Date wrong on the draw. I applied solely for hunt code 1904 which according to Fort Huachuca Fact Sheet dated May 2014 is the Dec 13 -31, 2014 hunt. The draw has my being drawn for 1904 with dates of Nov 21 - 30, 2014. I sent AZ G&F an email. Hopefully I will get a response soon.

Can you actually still hunt unit 32? And a AZGFD mini-rant.

A similar situation in California handled by the state: Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation Tuesday that allows the state to forcibly open a public access road to Martins Beach if the property owner fails to voluntarily restore public access to the picturesque cove popular with surfers near Half Moon Bay. The new law is yet another blow to venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, who was ordered last week by San Mateo County Superior CourtJudge Judge Barbara Mallach to reopen the gate to the beach and allow the public in — or get a state permit to close the road. Khosla has said he would likely appeal the ruling, which did not address the issue of the public’s long-term right to access the beach. SB968, by Sen. Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, requires the State Lands Commission to negotiate with Khosla for one year in an attempt to find a permanent solution. If an agreement can't be reached within a year, the commission may acquire all or a portion of the property by eminent domain to create a public access road. -

Any guide that pays or landowner that excepts payment to restrict access for exclusive use is not going to admit it. Only thing to do is homework. Plot maps, topos and research. Hike back into to an area that others can not drive into May end up being the hunt of a lifetime. I agree that the public should not be block from the use of public lands. G&F could try to work with landowners to possibly get hike in hunting granted. If I were a ranch owner I would not want ATVs and Four Wheel Drives running everything into ruts. I feel walk in access should never be restricted. -
I just don't understand the reason hunting is allowed during the rut. Seems to me you would want those big mature bulls to be spreading the best DNA on to the next generation. Would pushing the archery season back a month be the right thing? Also, cow hunters harvesting 1 year old cows would be better than taking 3, 4, or 5 year old cows. Hunters Education should also involve Game & Fish management practices. Maybe these suggestions would benefit healthy herds for many years to come. And I know, someone is immediately going to say loss of habitat should be the number one focus. And the archery hunters are going to be up in arms protesting. Can't please everyone. Management should look at all practices to keep a healthy herd for many, many years (forever).

WOW!!! All beautiful bulls. The Bull of a Lifetime is one of the nicest bulls I have seen. Great mass, beautiful old looking guy, and a little freaky on the left side. Great job. Good luck with number 4.

I recently read all 15 books and #16 is coming out in March 2015. Joe Pickett is a Wyoming game warden and the books are fictional, mystery, and Joe's life as a game warden. Just easy reading that makes you want to venture into the back county of Wyoming. Would be easy reading while on a stand.

Nice story and photo SlowandSteady. I'll be in 35A, Fort Huachuca come December. I'm hoping a cold front with wind, snow or sleet moves in when I am there. Love hunting those hills when the weather turns nasty.

Got my Fort Huachuca tag on Friday with the correct hunt code and dates. The tag number is different than the one posted on the AZG&F website. Love hunting those hills on the fort.

Hey Snapshot, I thought it was 70 Virginans. I'll be down on the fort in December. Plan on staying locked, loaded and aware of my surroundings like all hunters normally are. It's a great thing having the right to carry. Lets not let any administration ever take that right away.

Does Surfing count???? Aloha.
