As others have said, let us know which dates you got. If it doesn't conflict with one of the other hunts I am doing with first time hunters this fall, I'll add you to the mix.

Those two places had the best price on Diesel 3 weeks ago when traveling through on my way to Yellowstone. I'm sure a call to either one would tell you about the block ice.

New rifle...looking for ammo. suggestion

What's the twist rate? -
If they replaced load range E tires and did not tell you they were selling you a lower weight range, then I'd bark as high up the food chain as I had to in order to get a full refund.

Saw that up there in the campground last month and was surprised by it. I knew there was a project going on in another unit, but talked to the camp host about it. Did not get a chance to meet him though. Sounds like he's up there a while each summer, and lots of good work being done.

Was all set up for heading out on Friday, but found out about 7 last night I need to fly out of town for work this afternoon for the next week. Had just got my wife convinced she was ready to try her first deer hunt too, now that her shooting is much better.

Never personally ran those tires, but Hankook does make good tires. You need to keep in mind not just total weight, but also weight distribution, number of passengers plus all the gear either in the cab or in the bed, and then the tongue weight of your trailer.

$4 for a duplicate at any license dealer. Not that I've ever lost my OTC deer tag a time or two.....

What's the difference between being concerned with coming across someone wishing to steal your things or do you harm while hunting along the border vs. coming across someone wanting to do you harm or steal your things while in the city, or your house, or having dinner at a nice place with your family? Maintaining situational awareness and being ready for violence of action at any moment are key elements of being a responsibly armed citizen. There's a ton of deer down there. Be smart and you shouldn't have any issues with 2 legged critters.

I have the CED M2 and like it. Not sure I could ever convince myself to by the Magnetospeed. Did not like the idea of hanging something off my barrel. I also tend to shoot several guns through my chrono when I do go to the range, not to mention checking my velocity for my wife and I's bows. It may give a more accurate reading, but if your getting serious enough about shooting to get a chrono, then you would be verifying that speed by shooting at known distances anyways. When I was doing my research, there were a bunch of issues I read concerning the cheaper units. Seemed to be about half the folks were just griping due to incompetence or a crappy retailer and half actually had real issues with the units. The only other chrono that I considered was the Oehler, but that was more than I wanted to pay.

Yeah, it was an April Fool's joke that Amanda helped with. Was funny as heck.

Rifle has sold. Also selling my Burris Black Diamond 4-16x50 scope with the Ballistic Mil Dot reticle. This was the first scope I ever purchased and used it faithfully on my 300 win mag for the last 10 years. There are some slight marks on the side of the bell housing from rubbing against a loose sling in a case. Scope is otherwise in great condition. Only reason for selling is to help fund some new SLC's and I have moved on to adjustable turrets. $450, no trades at this time please. Thanks.

Didn't see this scope as an option. Still selling for SLC fund.

Hit up Google earth to find a spot at the elevations you'll be hunting. Look for power lines off of FS roads.

Rifle has sold, price drop on glass.
-
Have yet to get either of my tags, and my post office is the one that picks up the mail from AZGFD HQ.
-
Either rent a sat phone or get a SPOT messenger. If you do hunt solo frequently I would recommend the SPOT.
-
Once you do, you'll never want to buy cheap glass again.

If you want to store everything in one box, I would suggest trying to find an old military field desk. We used them as chuck boxes when I was kid in scouts and they worked great. Cannot fit super large pots in them, but they hold everything needed for a kitchen just fine and even come with a nice table to work off of if need be.

Where's the best spot in town to pick some up at?

If you get the camp chef and lantern tree, don't forget the adapter to be able to run the stove off the smaller connections of the tree.

Looking to do a stock upgrade on my .270....is this a good one?
metau replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It is an upgrade over the Hogue stock, if that is the one you currently have on there. For double the cost, you can get one of the inlet ready McMillan's. -
"How did I live without it?" Hunting Gear
metau replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
My bow. Nothing else has come close to changing the way I hunt or improving/changing what little true hunting skills I had at the time. -
Tasty little birds. Need to get up there again one of these years and chase them some more.
