I guess it coulda been worse. I got pulled over by glendale for a headlight and gave him my license and CCW. he wanted to remove my gun from me for his safety, i informed him that it was in condition one. he took the xd45 off my hip and then proceeded to ask me how to unload it. at that point I wanted to remove his weapon for my safety. I've never been so worried about someone shooting themselves or someone else.

I don't think anyone thinks that death is imminent, just don't want to go to jail for protecting our country from invasion of war criminals. has any hunter in the past 30 years had to shoot at illegals down there? srs question. and not trying to be rude, but it sounds like youve never hunted there before. I can't believe that dude is that scared of his own country. So if the illegals pushed north you'd move further north till the forced you into Canada? Grow a set. not scared to be in my own country I'm scared of what my country would do to me for protecting it.

good luck that could be a tough hunt without access. the big Chino won't even give out access to kill coyotes during an antelope eaters coyote hunt, it would give them more antelope and they still won't do it. just plain stupid.

I won't even go down there myself. Pretty sure Id shoot people, any foreigner carrying a gun into this country in my opinion is a target and declaring war.

Arrowhead grill in Glendale is the best in town for my money on the west side for sure Mastro's on the Eastside. just went to Gordon Ramsay's steak in Las Vegas and hands down the best I've ever had. order a side of the bone marrow demi glaze to go with your wagou rib cap, but plan on a dinner for two to be around 250.

I'm not an archery hunter anymore and I have not hunted archery for about 18 years. I have only killed three rats and a grasshopper with a bow.

and by the way, if for some reason you don't get the lungs, you have another elk wandering around that will die a slow miserable death. And then you'll go out and shoot another one.

so you guys are these fast flat shooting arrows, must be getting perfect scores on all the 3d shoots. I mean if there's no difference really from one pin to the next then you must be shooting in the vitals every time. as it's been said before, shot placement is by far the most important thing, however, if it does not penetrate it does not matter. saying that penetration does not matter is the dumbest thing I have heard ever.

Huh.... You should post this on my bigger gear for bigger game thread in the elk section. I bet that the heavier arrows have a flatter long range trajectory with the reduced drag.

Not alot of birds thismorning in 3c. Did have one tom chase two hens into our camp though. Full strut all the way.

So I thought I would start a post at the request of others for those of you who would like to explain why you use such light gear for elk. I get the speed part, trajectory and all for distance, but if you don't have any weight behind it its a moot point. A 220 swift is one of the flattest shooting, fastest 22 caliber cartridges there is. I wouldn't want to shoot a deer with it let alone an elk. A 375 H&H is one of the slowest. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot anything with it. I agree with those that say the most important thing is placement, if you have penetration as well all the better. I don't' know how you can break a shoulder blade with an expandable scalpel let alone a breast bone or humerus or even a rib. I just hope that the guys with archery tags are exploring all of there shooting options and not just going with the new craze. There is a reason you don't see a lot of guys flickin' sticks at rinos and elephants, they shoot them with heavy massive solid bullets. http://archeryreport.com/2009/11/arrow-kinetic-energy-momentum-archer/ I'm not sayin it can't be done, I'm just sayin it can be done better. never said archery hunters wound more animals in rifle hunters. though they probably do percentage wise.
