Sometimes getting that first one and breaking the ice is the hardest, you did well What a great story and illustrations, brings back so many memories of my 4 sons and their hunts. Out of all my hunts, none of them compare to the ones you have with your kids (except maybe some I've had with my dad).

I believe the AZ. Game and Fish Dept. has a book that shows the "Water Catchments" they have constructed (and locations) all over the state. These would be rain catchments and not include water holes/cattle ponds etc. It might be a good resource, I am thinking about getting one myself. Look on their website, http://www.gf.state.az.us/ I believe they sell for about $30. Good luck.

I like the "Can" . I have had it work on larger Mulies, but have had limited success on Coues - mostly smaller bucks (resulting in death ) But I would definately carry one, if only to stop them or settle them down if they get spooked (but are not quite sure what spooked them). Continued prayer for a total recovery! These Elk tags are so hard to get, we feel like we have to kill ourselves to go. It is too bad the Commision can't reinstate the tag for a documented medical emergency - even if it is for the following year. Probably never happen, like opening a can of worms...
