the difference is minimal. the 30-06 is a very powerful round. plenty of power with virtually any 30-06 hunting round. accuracy harder to come by.

HSM ammo is not at the bottom of the price range. Also There is no way to tell what factory ammo will shoot a factory rifle. i sent you a PM. i would use lighter 150 to 168 bullets for coues. buy a couple boxes that you have available and try them. coues are generally shot at longer ranges., so decent accuracy is an advantage. when you have been scouting have they been relatively close?

Mata- 168 gr combined technology (winchester) ; or 150 gr combined technology. HSM 168 or 150. the sportsmans warehouse i was at this morning had the hsm 168, and win 168. ron

in additionto what wayno said- most shooting the 308 use either I4064, varget or re-15. br-2 or 210m

Jazz- do you have a .243 , ammo and a knife?

i have several rem 700 7mm's. the twist rate is ideal for both the 175 sierra and the 139 hornady. i have shot several elk with both the 175 sierrra and the 139 hornady. both worked great. you say you are using " federal match primers"? 210 M? 215 M?

how far off the lands? what power scope? my adl and sendero are amazingly accurate.
-
do you reload? the rifle/barrel, scope and ammo. all work together. i have a leup that i shoot in competition . i paid 525$ for it. also for long range shooting you will need a real good range finder; that will range every time to your desired distance. and quite a bit of ammo to practice.

easiest is to sell and get a remington long range or rem sendero. or sell and get a rem long range and rebarrel. the 30-06 is a great round. fired from a rem 700 with a krieger barrel . awesome.

nov 6 is still pretty warm. i have not hunted down there that time yet. climb a mountain you have seen deer or deer sign on or near. the more you glass the more you will see.
-
Mata- most coues are glassed up. it is a technique that has proven itself. also most are shot at longer than average ranges so a 300 yard zero with an accurate rifle is helpful. you are lucky to be able to scout. i heading to my unit without scouting. but i have hunted it before. ron

there are a lot more coues than mule deer in your unit. the mule deer are at lower elavations. ron
