I do understand the fine, but I am in the camp of disagreeing with him losing his license(I think). When I first read it, I was totally on the side of the hunter that the fine and punishment was unreasonable. I am moving to the other side now though. We need to be clear that he CHOSE to shoot the second ram. The ewe was an "accident". He shot at an animal, and then INTENTIONALLY shot at a second. If it was just the ewe that was in question because of a pass-through, that would be different. Just my opinion, but to me the other ram was not an "accident", it was a bad choice. Unfortunately(or fortunately) there can be steep penalties for bad choices.

Spending time elk hunting is never a bad thing. Doing it with friends is even better. Nice pictures too.

I agree. Although his wife is from the area they are moving to, I think he will be sorely disappointed with the attitudes that have infected the area. Still though...ANYWHERE is better than san fran cisco.

While reading your opening sentence my eyes wandered down to the first picture and my brain went........ whaaaaaaaaaaaaat??????????

Ouch. Where was his friend and why was he not spotting one wonders. It really doesn't set a good precedent for self reporting though. I think a true hunter still would, but dang.

I saw that too. I wish I was getting a tag in 2017 but probably won't. should give a better chance for some good calling. Good to see they finally will be treating everyone like adults and not making us wait for those that cannot keep their credit cards good though.

Looks like a good pee tree to me....

Trout. Stick. Mesquite wood. Fire. Eat Your welcome. Just kidding. Sort of Rub them down good with salt and lemon pepper. A little butter and a lemon half wrapped in tinfoil. Throw it on the fire. Falls off the bones.

Anyone from CWT going to the ACCC?
AzDiamondHeat replied to PowellSixO's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Skipping it for the first time. Always have enjoyed it though. -
That is just a cool story. I love the excitement and enthusiasm of first time hunters.

Thanks guys. I already have the form filled out by the Doc, just wasn't sure what to do with it. Like bigorange said, the website implies what to do, but doesn't really give good directions. I will take her down there and get it finished.

Man that is awesome.

Have any of you applied for a crossbow permit with azgfd? Did you have take your application to them or just mail it in? I can't seem to find that answer on their website.

Ever hide a present so well that you can't find it to wrap it???? I can't decide if I am that good of a hider, that poor of a finder, or just getting too old to remember if I even bought it to begin with....

I do this when I lose an arrow. It works about half the time so I guess I break even....lol

Found it! I put it on the top shelf in the cleaning closet. She would never look there.......lol

I asked this back in November as well. The only thing I could find for potable water is at the casino. Dumb and rinse is available in town at the wendys gas station(cant remember the name though)

Since it is for the wife the price is not an issue. I would gladly spend top dollar to get her back in the field with me. Of course, if a very good one could be had for less......lol I appreciate the feedback so far. The internet is full of information but first hand knowledge from local guys is ALWAYS better. Any of the local shops carry an assortment? I just checked Timber Mesa and they do not.

Well done. It's nice when you don't have to hike all over creation for a stink pig.

That is cool. She should be thrilled.

Was up in 6b helping a young friend on his very first elk hunt (never even SEEN an elk before). Shot a cow at about 10 this morning. Felt it was a good hit but wasn't sure. Found her tracks and located a few speckles of blood. Followed the tracks for awhile with limited to no blood. After about 2 miles(yes 2 miles) blood speckles stopped, but I was still able to follow the tracks. After another mile and a half we lost the tracks over rocky outcropping up a very steep hill. searched a bit and picked them back up on the other side of the mountain. A couple hundred yards down the other side I found her. 3.6 mile track and recovery. just over 3 hours. Now the crazy part. He shot her perfect with a 168gr 308 Winchester(store bought). Double lung. The bullet never expanded. It was crazy. Crazy.

I was about to say Kayce Turley when I read the title....lol
