I like the current system. Premium units are...PREMIUM. Hard to get drawn. Lesser units are easier to get drawn. I like that NO MATTER WHAT, I have a chance to hunt elk EVERY year. Congrats to the guy that is LUCKY and actually pulls it off. The only thing I HATE (and it has nothing to do with the draw), is the dude that puts in for something and has no idea what it is is and the guy that gets drawn for archery bull and doesn't own a bow. But the system itself is fine. If you want to hunt more often, put in for easier units and quit holding out for that 4b trophy tag....

Brown, you can adopt me and I will go, I promise... Like IA I too have "made" mine go, but only when they had previously said they would. I always give them the choice, but once they say yes, I require them to uphold their integrity(kicking and screaming sometimes). Also like Ia, mine have never regretted going. It is just the act of GOING that is difficult for them to accept. BEING there is awesome. Always. It will work out for you. Have faith.

My friend drew an elk tag last year with his 5th choice. BUT....it was a December rifle cow tag in a mid tier unit. Looks like unit 8 will be my new #3 choice form now on. Just in case...

That is an elk tag. You have already been charged for the license fees. It is not a jr tag though, so not one of the kids unless you put them in the main draw.

First time in my life I hope i DON'T get drawn. I want to be able to focus on my wife's elk. Of course, after she drops one early in the hunt I may be saying something different.....lol

My wife got her first elk tag. Not sure of bull cow or 4a/4b though. Early archery. Me....welll....looks like I am hunting antelope in wyoming this year. NO TAG FOR YOU!
