I am a gaiter guy myself, but just for kicks I "painted" my face once. I actually used soot from the fire though. Worked well and it washed right off. Not really what you were asking about but I am bored and wanted to share my useless insight...

That last one looks very heavy bodied but not much antler growth....

Unless the rains wiped everything out, it looked pretty good when I was there. We went up right before all the rains started (the day they lifted the fire ban) and drove many trails. Definitely a lot of damage and bulldozer work, but not anything like some of the big fires. To me it looked just like the slim jim fire from last year on the other side of the ridge. Lots of underbrush and garbage burned up and the roads torn up and big piles of debris. we're headed back up there too next week to get ready for archery deer and then the wife's elk hunt.

At a very beautiful and sad place.

It's no 4b but it does ok. Mid-tier unit. OBVIOUSLY given it's size it was a 4b bull that just wandered across the highway or was dragged there by a lion.

You will hardly notice it, at least the areas I went to. Mostly was underbrush. Some of the "hidden" good spots are exposed now though.

That's fantastic. Well done on the patience and glassing.

Yes, but you might not be happy with the movement. Lots of info on this site about good quality pan heads that aren't really much more expensive than what you are looking at. The difference between a better quality fluid head and what you are looking at is night and day though. Like many others, I started with the lesser expensive setups thinking they would be "good enough". If you are going to spend any significant amount of time doing this, do it right. The frustration level will go WAY down and help you to enjoy it more.

I'm not allowed to grow a beard unless I STAY in the woods. And i'm too dang handsome to hide behind hair anyway....

Tube. 100% clear silicone. Not caulk. Yes, it will affect breathability which is why I only do from knee down. Never made it feel hot though. Works better on some cloth than on others. Stiffens it up and makes it heavier and a little louder. Not uncomfortable or really that much louder though. Basically saturates the weave of the material and seals it up.

I mix the silicone and mineral spirits in a plastice jar like an old peanut butter jar. I use a bent wire clothes hangr and hand drill to mix it and break down the silicone. Lots of recipes on the interweb. I typically use about 1 tube of silicone to one quart of spirits. The clear odorless spirits in the metal can, not the milky stuff in the plastic. I do about half a bottle at a time. Whatever is manageable. After it is mixed apply with a paintbrush. I just slop it on. I squeeze and squish it in to ensure it is soaked through. Get all seams good. Hang to dry. Oh, and don't for get tout treat the seat of the pants! After a few days of curing wash with sportwash or similar and then dry. Dryer seems to set it in. Sounds like a lot more work than it really is. Once cured washed dried leaves zero odor.

I have had very good success using the silicone and mineral spirits treatment. I treat from the knee down. I also do my hats and lightweight gloves. Lightweight gaiters work great for those dewy mornings also.

6.8 is designed to be optimized out of a 16 barrel. For home defense 6.5 is somewhat impractical. Out to 300 very similar ballistics. Under 500 spc. Over 500 6.5

Who's headed out this weekend
AzDiamondHeat replied to bonecollector's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
P When are you going to teach me how to bear hunt? I need a rug! Lol. -
Have no fear, a hunter will kill that deer. But it will be a circus when it happens. Season opens the 19th, expect the kill photos to be pasted online by about 10:00 am. The 19th???? Ed F That's the "special permit" early season archery.

Love mine. Quite sufficient for anything I would need to do.

AZGF Restrict Use of Trail Cameras
AzDiamondHeat replied to galiuromulepacker's topic in Trail Cameras
IF they pass such a law, I think it will be as a "deterrent" rather than an active pursuit type thing. There are a LOT of laws on the books that they don;t enforce regularly, but they CAN enforce when they choose to or need to for whatever reason. Lots of people out riding unlicensed motor vehicles for example. I ride a LOT(mine are all properly licensed though), and have NEVER been stopped. I also don;t abuse the trails/roads I ride on and have never given them reason to stop and check me. I think they are very aware of the hostility game cams are causing and want a way to do something about it if the NEED arises to resolve an issue. I seriously doubt they are intending to outright BAN all cameras. As has been said, impossible to enforce. They will NOT waste the resources to do so. -
Now that's funny. Red wins the internet today.

I wonder if that hurts...

I'll put you on the list Sean! I am one that has given great reviews on this site because Sean took very good care of me. But I think this thread is for person to person transactions and not sponsors. I think we already know it is ok to trust sponsors. Most of them anyway. lol
