Coues hunter or Coues Sniper?
AzDiamondHeat replied to AZAV8ER's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Did he do it by himself or use your skill and knowledge to assist? I would assume you helped him get there, find the deer, set up properly and take the shot. I would also assume either you or him spent time behind that scope of that particular rifle working up a load and sighting it in properly. So my point stands. Good hunters(shooters) will be effective at any distance. -
Coues hunter or Coues Sniper?

Who says we are getting "more efficient" at killing due to the equipment? If one argues that our equipment is making us better at killing at longer distances, then that person must also accept that killing at longer distances is no longer an "ethics" question. I would believe that the person who is capable and efficient at killing deer at longer distances is just as capable and efficient at killing them up close. The same would go in reverse. If you cannot hunt them up close it is extremely doubtful you would have the ability to shoot them at long distances EFFECTIVELY and EFFICIENTLY. Good practice makes good hunters at any distance. -
Im in the same boat but for different reasons. I quit my day job at the end of last year to go full time with my small business and it has blown up into an avalanche of work. I wasnt going to risk drawing a bull tag when I know I wont be able to focus on it, so its otc hunts for another year I hope i have successful business, but I hope it's never so successful that a I have to skip bull season. Careful what you wish for there will always be the hunt. Ever hear the story of the old bull and the young bull sitting on top of the hill overlooking all the cows? I just lay myself off every September and then realize later in the month how much I need my services and then re-hire me....

I think the only "category" should be SUCCESSFUL or NOT SUCCESSFUL. It is up to the individual hunter to decide what "success" means to them. -
Do you use big glass or just what is around your neck? Curious to see who does what.....

Not perfect but would make a good garage fridge.

I am in Gilbert. Sorry about that. It has been spoken for, but I will keep it posted if for some reason it falls out.

But they can cross the road. Let me tell ya.......it's no fun hitting one at 65mph. Talk about serious damage on a guy's truck! I can still see and hear the impact as if it were yesterday. This happened in 1989. Think I'd rather get hit by that goose! Lol When I lived in Christopher Creek prior to the elk crossings they have installed it was scary as he__ to drive at night. I Picked up multiple road kill permits like 6 or 7 and at least 2 people died by elk on that stretch of road that season 1 was a cop. I have slid to a stop and had elk not move a muscle until they were darn good and ready. Honestly most people would swerve and elk would drop head so 90% if say were super clean kills with minimal meat loss. I did see a 6x6 get hit and drug by a semi a good 1/2 mile coming down into C.C. on old road it was pretty gnarly! I have been hit hard by falling dove so wanting to be part of that with a goose is a NO FOR ME!!! When we do dove control at the farm we do our best to bomb each other.... You wouldn't be a good friend if ya didn't try dropping a dove or 2 on buddy or his windshield now would ya... My thoughts exactly!

"passed" - Adj. meaning "to miss or get busted by". "I 'passed' on a 280 3x3 this morning." "350 class bull" noun - any antlered elk that was briefly seen running through the trees. Also: any antlered elk that was "passed" on opening morning(see above) -
