My first predator season
AzDiamondHeat replied to PriceHuntsCoues's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Well done. You are not alone in the pursuit of the trophy cats. MANY pred hunters have yet to get a cat. Both frustrating and inspirational is the likelihood that you have already called them in, just didn't see them. You would be shocked how many cats have been called and not seen. After awhile you will also learn how to specifically target cats if that is your desire. There are definitely "tips and tricks" to up your success rate on cats. -

What's your location?

My buddy took a similar rig on our coues hunt last year. I kept waiting for the valet to open my door and carry my pack....

Depending on the unit, you may find laying off the bugle all together to be more beneficial. Hunters chase bugles, not cow calls. Calling in other hunters is entertaining but really not productive(unless it is not my tag then I very much enjoy it lol). Bulls can and will respond to loud cow calls from very far away. You can find very good success using cow calls to locate instead of bugles. And look into the elk101 series. Very good inifo

.300 BLK Supersonic Load
AzDiamondHeat replied to AZHunter95's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've seen(as you probably have) them cut but I have never tried it. I don't hunt with those footballs so has never been an issue. I might cut a handfull this next week and give it a try though. BUT..... I really like that pataaaaaaaaang sound as it cartwheels into oblivion.... -
AND......the #1 most important thing... be sure your handline is tied off or on your wrist. AND keep the line away from fishing poles and tackle. Don't ask how I know.
-
Yes, that too. Stupid auto-correct....

chuckin a net is definitely an artform. PRACTICE a LOT before you go to the lake...lol Also be aware of what is under the water when you throw. I have lost several nest to trees... Shallow fingers and cuts in the banks are great places to find shad and other minnows and usually safe to throw a net. and aerate whatever you are keeping them in. They don't live long without it.

.300 BLK Supersonic Load
AzDiamondHeat replied to AZHunter95's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I load both the 110vmax and 125sst for my 10.5 SBR. Both shoot ridiculously accurate and knock down every pred I have shot them at including a lion. I have a little more confidence in the 110vmax due to better expansion. The go to powder for supersonic blk used to be H110 in the 17-18gr range. Maybe there are new powders and loads but that is what I have been using for many many years. I also load 220s and 190s for subsonic. AA1680 and lil'gun. A pound will last FOREVER. -
I was thinking that same thing. Or it looks like it could be a shaft or adapter type thing.
