Pheasant tag 40b Sept.
catfish campbell replied to Fulch's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have four tags for the Sept 19th hunt...if anyone is interested in joining shoot me a PM. Also, if anyone wants to guide, i might be willing to share some Tuna Steaks from our trip next week ....thx, ladd -
LOL......Just giving Eric some crap... I had drawn 13A tag in 2007 and hired Alvey Johnson (one of the best guides in the strip) ending with tag soup. Was a drought year with poor antler growth. Personally, i would not hire a guide again since we mostly drove the roads instead putting my time in like Eric did with his deer....jmho

Took the wife up north to fill her Mulie tag last month.... After hunting hard the first 2 days for a nice 180" buck that we knew was in the area by hike-in, she decided that was enough. Luckily we found this young mulie middle of the afternoon hiding under a tree, and she made a great 150 yard shot with the .243 T/C Encore....

Congrats...have used Jared Cummings many times for moose, bear and caribou....he and his brother do a great job allowing you to pack the plane full!

Beautiful Bear, Any suggestions on mounts?
catfish campbell replied to latigo11's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Defintiely a rug...also, might want to check with your taxidermist on getting it tanned as sometimes there is a limit on how long you can keep it in the freezer without having issues later on.... -
Grew up outside Austin on a large working cattle ranch and will be moving back someday.... I think you will love Austin area with the hunting / fishing it provides. One suggestion is to get a get a group of buddies together and lease a ranch for hunting for the year.... Also, with the huge numbers of free roaming exotics and feral hogs, you can pretty much hunt year round (also, these can be hunted at night with spotlights)...enjoy!

Vortex Viper HD 15x50 vs. Kaibab HD 15x56
catfish campbell replied to kazpilot25's topic in Optics and tripods
Have both and compared the Swaro's side by side with the Kaibab's, the difference is not worth spending the extra $800... just plan on getting a good tripod and using it.... -
Check the AZBasszone.com website....there are quite a few guys who dive AZ lakes

There are some nice bucks in 36A...we killed these two a couple of years ago and have seen some larger ones since... Don't hunt the mountains so much but more the flats and deep draws. Also....lots of snakes!

How much does the azgfd make off hunting applications?
catfish campbell replied to regge090's topic in Elk Hunting
Also, don't forget the Camel Toad studies... Would be interesting to actually see where this money goes, but agree it is really not much when you look at how much land, wildlife and staff they have to support
