  1. That made me feel a little better. It would make me feel a whole lot better if I thought it would do anything.

    Best Tires

General Grabbers. I read quite a few reviews before buying and it was hard to find a bad one.

    The second frog

I used to click on the political posts every once in a while and get a little fired up, but lately they have been ruining my day. It is obvious the current administration has a free pass to do what ever they want. I keep wondering if there is a limit to what our country will stand for. Unfortunately society has made it taboo to stand for anything, unless it involves supporting the advance of our moral decay. I heard that if you throw a frog in boiling water it will jump out and live, but if you put one in a pot starting at room temperature it will stay put until the boil. I get the feeling our country is the second frog.

    Outboard motor work

I discovered my outboard is leaking fluid. Any recommendations for a good mechanic in the Tucson area? Thanks.

    Outboard motor work

I am scratching my head here. I recently had to replace my old gas tank due to a hole in the bottom. The new attwood tank does not have a vent on the cap like my old tank did. I thought this was strange, but read somewhere on the packaging that it was not needed. There was some gas in the tank at the end of our last fishing trip. I discovered there is no more gas left in the tank, and there is what appears to be gas oil mix all over the back of my boat. My theory is when I drove from Tucson to the White Mountains the air pressure decreased causing the air inside the tank to expand and push the gas up and out somewhere in the motor, but that is purely a guess from a non mechanic. Has anybody ever heard of something like this?

    Outboard motor work

I gave John a call. He said he is going to stop taking boats for service. Bummer. Any other ideas?
  7. If it miraculously happened I would not ask for a single thing more for Christmas this year.

    White Mountains

I am excited to take my family up to the higher elevations to camp and fish for a week. I hope to explore and fish a few different lakes while we are up there. I have not fished much up north and wanted to see if anybody had recommendations for cool lakes to check out. Since I will be with my wife, four year old and three dogs, scenery and decent camp areas probably counts for as much as the actual fishing. Thanks.

    trailer repair tucson

I was getting ready to take my son up to Apache for a couple days. I went to put some grease in the wheel bearings and saw one wheel had popped off and was sitting on the axel. It is a bummer, but I guess I should be thankful I saw it, or that nothing bad happened driving back from the last trip. Does anybody know a good place in Tucson I could take it for a repair?

    When pigs attack!

Got to give Bear some credit. That was a sweet form tackle on that pig at the end of the video. I bet that would be quite a rush.

which pack is the best all around for hunting?

I was in the not break the bank camp and ended up buying an eberlestock blue widow. I loved the idea pack when I first got it and really tried to make it work. I found that when I was archery hunting I spent more time trying to adjust the pack to make it comfortable than I did hunting. I ended up selling it and some other stuff to buy a kifaru timberline I pack. I am impressed with my tests so far, but it has not seen an opening day or any quarters so I can't give it a fair review. I will say that I liked my old badlands 2200 fit much better than the eberlestock. If I were to start over with a couple hundred bucks to spend I would go with a 2200.

When they close the tonto forest?

I was planning to hit Apache this weekend. This post caused me to call the rangers office. The lady on the phone made it sound like there is a fire restriction, but they would not close down access to the lake.
  15. I went East of Durango last year. We got into a heard of elk the day before the opener. We made the mistake of trying to get closer and set up camp. Right after daylight on opening morning it sounded like world war III while a group of hunters lobbed shots from where we originally spotted them. We never saw another elk the rest of the trip, but there was no shortage of hunters. It was still nice scenery and a good time. Our original plan was to hike into an inaccessible area but we got snowed out. If I were to hunt that unit again I would definitely try to hunt a healthy distance away from roads.

    Fishing in Yellowstone

I use to backpack in with my dad and fly fish every summer. Some of our favorite spots were Slough Creek, confluence of Hellroaring Creek and the Yellowstone River, Seven Mile Hole of the Yellowstone river. I did well using Stimulators alone, or with a dropper. Tiny pmd's were good as well. If you hike in five miles on Slough Creek you will not need to worry about a guide. My dad was not much of a fisherman, and pretty much just went to spend time with me. When we camped at the last spot on Slough Creek we finally went back to camp because our arms were tired of catching fish. Go to Trout Lake if you want to catch beautiful cutthroat with a chance at a HUGE rainbow. The rainbows are hard to catch, but I hooked into a couple in many tries. It is super frustrating because you can see them swimming around like submarines in the crystal clear water. Stripping in a damsel fly nymph worked well for the cuts. These pictures are some I had in my classroom. Slough Creek backcountry Cut Cut from the Yellowstone River right off of the road Trout Lake Cut Trout Lake Cut Trout Lake Rainbow Yellowstone River off of the Road Stimulator next to a Stonefly. If you go the right time of year the Stoneflies are everywhere! After a while you stop swatting them away and just let them crawl all over you.

    Never underestimate a house cat

On a 1 to 10 scale I like cats about a 2, but that one is a ten plus! I like dogs about a nine, but that one needs a one way trip to the vet.

    14 lb largemouth at Canyon

That is crazy awesome. Based on this and the last picture of a big bass posted on this site I think I am going to start fishing at night!

    White faced Coues finished!!!

Looks like a hybrid to me. Half coues, half dairy cow.
  20. Thanks for the post; just ordered the grizzly book after reading some reviews. As a school teacher I have to find some things to keep me busy during my upcoming 80 day weekend.
  21. I own "Death in Yellowstone". I was eating breakfast in the park at Roosevelt Lodge after backpacking Slough Creek with my Dad. I picked the book up while waiting for the bill to come. I read the first story about the guy who jumped into the hot spring to save his dog and immediately bought the book. The description of his eyes turning white just like a cooked fish and the skin on his feet sloughing off when he tried to take off his shoes was unforgettable. I think the worst story was the one about the kids who ate the poisonous plants. It was enough to make you sick reading about how their parents tried to help them after it was too late.

    Apache Family Fishing Trip

It was pretty much a perfect weekend. After nap Garrett and I went out while mom was still sleeping and put 10 bluegill in the basket using tiny pieces of hotdog. At dinner time we hung out at camp and ended up catching two 29 inch catfish using the bluegill for bait. I was even able to get a bonus bass in the morning before we took off. I love Apache.
