Kifaru Timberline 1. I love it more and more each time I go out. I use to struggle my way down the mountain with my old pack after getting a coues, but this pack carries the load like a dream.

I went out around Tucson for a couple hours this morning as saw 20+ does without a buck to be found. I hope for my own sake that the rut is just getting started in the desert.

I will help you out. Buy a havalon with 10 replacement blades for a backpacking trip (weighs less than any decent fixed blade knife.) Buy a worksharp sharpener for any knives that have sentimental value that you would like to be sharp at home. I bought the worksharp and brought it up to my parents for Christmas. After I sharpened all of their knives my mom cut her finger on one after picking it up from the sink to a wash it.

I believe you missed a joke about the orientation of your photos. I thought it was pretty good, but now it is ruined.

Nice, I am getting excited as well. Has anyone else noticed a few people have been talking about already going out javalina hunting? Are there any seasons open right now?

I have felt like your son looked in that bottom pic while in the field, but unfortunately there was no one to carry me out. My wife works the 1st and 2nd of January so I have decided to take my four year old out glassing for javalina. I imagine my odds to get one will go way down, but it will probably be more memorable anyways.

Did you at least hit what you were aiming at?

Recipe? Maybe that is a secret.

That is rough, but it sounds like it was not for a lack of effort. I always start to get depressed after day three with no action. Better luck next time.

Is anyone else waiting for the federal government to demand the administrator of this sight change the title of this post to "U.S. citizens" poaching deer.?

Fair enough, I am done.

Your link led to a list of videos. I clicked on the second one down that was 20 hrs old sandwiched between one that was three years old and one that was 5 years old ( ), assuming this was the video you wanted people to watch. If you did not know what I was referring to I will narrow it down for you (1:54 to 2:04). This is the line below the video in youtube. "Opinions are like a**holes everyones got one but not everyone cares so keep them to yourselves! everything that happend was legal..." If this is the video you meant to link to I will not apologize for my earlier post. If this is not the video you wanted I will also not apologize and would tell you to learn how to link a video.

I would have given the first deer another mercy shot after seeing his eye blinking and looking around. I saw the comment you made on your youtube video about not posting opinions. If you don't want to hear people's opinions don't lay it out for the world to see.

Or maybe another starter bow my son could start shooting with. He is almost 5, and would have around an 18 inch draw length.

Thanks, I will check it out.

Would you mind sending me a p.m. with your wife's number so I can have my wife call her? Only kidding, I know my wife puts up with more than most would. I am just looking forward to the day my boy is old enough to start taking him out on hunts.

Very cool.

I went to one in Boise and it was awesome. Might have to check this one out.

It is easy to place judgement on others based on your own limitations. I did take a coues last season off hand, but it was in bow range. If it gets further than that I start to get uncomfortable an look for a rest, but I don't fool myself into thinking that somebody else couldn't make the same shot off hand that I need a rest for. It is all about skill and practice time. I only shoot a hand full of rounds out of my hunting rifle each year, and as a result my ego does not take a hit when I say I need a rest for shots over 100 yards.
-
Better luck next year. I don't pull the trigger unless I expect to hit the target. You can't tell me someone is expecting to hit the target when they are on shot 9 or 10. I might take a follow up if I missed the first, but if I saw dirt fly on the second shot I would be packing up my crap and heading to the range.

I love the 130 grain ttsx out of my .270. Since I started using it I have killed 4 coues and 2 elk with it with great results from ranges of 30 to 300 yards. I will not be switching to anything else any time soon. -
The past 5 or 6 years I have always spent my bow hunting time within a 45 minute drive from my house in Tucson. The convenience is nice, but the problem is on a weekday I see more hunters than game and on a weekend forget about it. On the other end of the spectrum, I could count all of my hunter sightings on one hand over the 8 years where I rifle hunt for coues. There is one particular draw that leads up to a saddle where I have killed three bucks, and see bucks every time out. I am finally getting sick enough of the crowds to give my rifle spot a shot during archery season. I was thinking about building a ground blind close to the area I have seen bucks on the saddle. Any tips on building the blind?

Thanks for the input. I am excited to give it a try.
