I love the one that looks like the tips of his antlers are touching.

    15x56 binocs vs spotting scope?

I will vote for 15's. I sold my old spotting scope. It was no fun to look through for extended periods and I am not much of a trophy hunter where I need to evaluate bucks at long distance. On the other hand, I am often shocked when I look at my watch and see how much time I have spent looking through my Kaibabs on a tripod. It is fun even if you aren't hunting.
  3. Looks like a giant to me. Nice work.

    Funny Commercial

I was poking around on facebook while my son was in the bath. I don't think I have ever sat through a commercial instead of clicking the "skip this add in 5 seconds" button. Needless to say this ad had me hooked within seconds and I watched the full 2 minutes plus. The best part is this a real product. Click if you are up for a laugh.

    Fieldline Fanny pack

I used this as my hunting pack for years and it is still in good shape. It is a large fanny back with two main compartments that has shoulder straps to distribute the pack's weight. Asking $20 Call Rob at 520-six09-two924.

Youtube video show guy shoot turkey in 13b with .597 22wmr

It is nice when poachers get themselves in trouble. My only thought is he would probably get off because it seems like it we be hard to prove he shot anything based on the video I saw.

    Packframe $50

The tag says swisscampinggear.com This pack has hauled exactly 4 elk quarters about 200 yards. It worked fine and is in good shape. I am selling it because I have a dedicated hunting pack that will haul more than I can carry.

    Have you ever messed up?

When it comes to archery hunting a better question to pose is "Have you ever NOT messed up?" I keep finding new ways to mess up. The wind has not been my friend the last couple times out.

    MY THEORY! O_o

I saw them once this year. My problem is I always see them from up high down in the wash 500 yards away. By the time I get down to cut them off they have up and vanished like a fart in the wind!

Bad news you didn't get him, but good news it looks like he will make it. Good luck.

    Best seat/chair/stool glassing

This won't meet your 12 inch requirement, but I have switched over to using a z lite thermarest foam pad that folds up quickly. Fold it out in half and you have a nice big seat that is 3 to 4 inches thick. It also doubles as a nice alternative to the ground in you get sleepy and want to watch the back of your eyelids under a tree for a few.

    Where to find boots

If you don't need them right away you can do what I did. I have a pair I love that goes for $240 new and I wanted a backup pair. I had to check ebay for quite a while, but was able to get a second brand new pair for $100.

    Books and magazines- Free

I have four or five fly fishing manuals, four or five fly tying manuals, a lot of old bassmaster magazines with a few hunting magazines mixed in. Free IF you take the whole lot from my house. I will probably be posting more stuff on here in the near future. Pick up is close to the Cortero Farms exit (north Tucson).

    Lifetime license

I just bought one for my Christmas present this year. We are moving to Idaho and I couldn't bear the thought of never hunting my favorite AZ spots again. Now I can at least put in for the harder tags to draw every year for free instead of dropping the cash for an out of state license I wouldn't use if I didn't draw.

    The streak continues . . .

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I have you beat as the worlds most unsuccessful archery pig hunter. I have been seeing way more deer than pigs this year and have been spending most of my time chasing them.

    Rollercoaster Coues Hunt

I am glad you found him. One thing I took away from your story is to put a second insurance shot in if you have the opportunity. Thanks for the post and nice work.

    Getting Closer

I am in the midst of a 18 year drought with my bow. I actually got within bow range of a 3x3 Sunday but couldn't close the deal. Finally getting that close gave me the fever pretty good. I went out yesterday after work and glassed up does within a minute of putting my binoculars on the tripod. After a bit of looking I discovered one of the does was actually a spike and he was chasing a doe. I decided what the heck and packed up my stuff. I was watching them run circles on the side of a hill 200 yards away from my position in the wash. I saw them go over the top and figured that would be the last I would see of them. A minute or so later I see the doe running down the hill towards me. They kept coming and at one point I thought they were going to run me over. They ended up heading just to my left and ended up getting about 60 yards away, but they were moving fast and there was no opening for a shot. There isn't much else I have found that will get my heart going like that. I figure I have probably used up all my luck for the year, but now I am hooked. I will give it another try after work today.

    Tripod

No body ever talks about mefoto tripods , but I think the road trip model would be worth checking out. I bought it after looking at a ton of specs from different tripods. I was looking for one that would fit in the side pocket on my kifaru timberline. It was the only tripod I could find that folded down small enough to fit in the pocket and would still support enough weight for my purposes. It is rock solid and is very light. It does not weight much more than carbon tripods with similar specs, or enough to justify the increase in cost in my opinion. I use it to glass with 15's all the time and have also shot two animals off it with a triclawps on top. This year I went hunting with my friend who is an anesthesiologist. I am guessing money is less of an issue for him than it is for me. He had a large carbon fiber manfrotto tripod and a light slik tripod for backpacking. I let him use my tripod for the morning and he said he was going to sell both of his and replace them with the roadtrip.

    Getting Closer

Thanks for the replies. I feel like I have learned some things this year that seem to help. I am doing less aimless walking and more glassing. I have had better luck only moving when I have located an animal and have come up with some sort of a plan of attack.

The Gutless Method with Randy Newberg video

Thanks for the post. I have always skinned one half of the animal first and taken everything off and then rolled it over. Every once in a while the animal will roll on me and part of the meat will get dirty. This way looks cleaner. Think I will give it a try next time I have the opportunity.

    scope recommendation

I love my zeiss conquest with a rapid z reticle, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from Vortex. I love my Kiababs and had a good experience with their customer service department.
