This post has got my wheels turning. My boy turns 4 in March, and the idea of getting him a bow has got me excited. Now I just have to talk my wife into it. I might be in the market to buy a used one.

With the gutless method you hardly get bloody, so I don't bother anymore.

Yikes. I am glad I picked mine up a couple weeks ago.

Weekend bump and price drop to $45. I wore these boots just enough to feel stupid for not giving up earlier in my attempt to "break them in". My pansy heels have raised the white flag of surrender to yet another pair of boots. Call Rob at six09- two 9 two 4.

11.5 EE. It was in my original title which I erased for my new pitch. This is great, two replies in 15 minutes! Keep em coming.

I did shoot my biggest Coues buck while wearing these turds, so they are good luck!

I bought these on sale for over $120. I got blisters, and then through stubbornness grew blisters on top of my old blisters. I bought mole skin, new skin, duct tape, band aids, anti chafing lubricants, and insoles. Most would have left these boots in the desert to walk back to their rig through a prickly pear field in their socks, but I still refused to admit defeat. I hiked again and grew new blisters over my calluses. I hate these boots. That is not to say that they are not good boots for someone with normal feet, but my delicate heels could not tame them. These boots haunt my dreams. I want them out of my house. Price is dropped to $35. If you are smart you will not make an offer. I will be giving them away by the end of the week.

Weekend bump and price drop to $90. I have enjoyed this pack, but am moving up to something a little bigger. It has a couple worn spots shown in the pictures, but is fully functional. Call Rob at six 09 - two 9 two 4.

Some thing similar happened to me hunting out of a tree stand in Idaho back when I was in college. It is a crappy feeling. I hope you are able to find him.

I still would have shot him even if I got a good look at him. Congrats.

I would like to find this pack used for around $200. Let me know if you have one taking up space.

Thanks! Just bought it.

Over a mile with two blown out lungs? Was it a terminator elk?

What a beauty!

nice deer.

Looks like a hybrid. It is rare for a coues and moose to meet and make little coose babies. Nice deer.

Very cool, congratulations! I am going to chase them again this year. I figure if I spend enough time out there I will eventually get a shot through dumb luck.

I enjoyed the read! You will have to come back and give it another try. -
Would you rather shoot a decent mule deer with your bow in January, or rifle hunt for coues in the fall? I doubt I would get lucky enough to arrow a mulie, but I don't even think I am going to put in for a tag this year. I can't imagine taking a year off of coues hunting.

Great pics, congrats on the bucks. -
I hunted hard all of opening weekend. I made the tough call to pass on a small three point opening day, and of course I didn’t see another buck the rest of the weekend. I arranged to take Wednesday and Thursday off from work, with the intention of shooting the first forky or bigger I could find. I started out glassing my usual favorite morning spot as the sun came up Wednesday morning. I frequently check one little ravine where bucks seem to magically materialize out of thin air. After scanning the mountain for a couple minutes I went back to my honey hole and sure enough a fork and 3 pointer are standing at 378 yards. I had to put my gun in the triclawps to clear the vegetation. I got it set up and looked through my scope to see the bucks moving to the right. The gun was too high and was loose so I lowered it, leveled it, and tightened a screw. I got back on the gun and saw that the deer had moved behind the hill blocking my view. Maybe this was a good thing, because there was a huge cross wind. After a few minutes I decided to hike up the ridge to see if I could relocate them, but had no luck. It was time to move on to plan B. I walked down the ridge I was on and started up a mountain on the other side. I stopped at my usual spot and glassed two groups of does. I followed a well worn trail further up the mountain than I had before. I was getting close to the top and had actually pulled my gps out of my pocket as I went over the last little rise. When I looked up I saw a buck staring at me from 30 yards away! I was expecting him to bolt but he just stood there as I put the gps back in my pocket, removed the scope cover, and shouldered the rifle. I still had my scope on max power and the deer took up 90% of the sight picture. It is hard to miss when all you can see is deer! All it took was one shot and he expired 10 yards from the trail, which made the pack out nice. He wasn’t my biggest, but I was thankful I wouldn’t be eating tag soup. If felt like this buck was a gift that came just in time. As I was putting the deer in the back of my suburban, super black rain clouds were rolling in over the mountains. I don’t know about anyone else, but I have done really well on super windy days. I tend to glass less and slowly walk around more. It seems the wind covers your noise and all of the blowing vegetation masks your movement.
