    Unit 1/27 success

It was a fast and furious weekend between hunting and trips to Porter Mountain Meats in Show low. We ended up filling all tags harvesting 2-Elk , 2-Mule Deer and 1-Coues Deer in 2 1/2 days. We were truly blessed to say the least. Pictured is my son Cade and daughter Elisabeth with their animals. I'am very proud of them and cherish the time we spent together this past weekend .....

    Need some advice

I've had a stand in 27 since 2007 (and have trail cam pics to prove it) the number of people I have captured on my cam in that time has been a handful. I went to pull my SD card prior to the archery hunt and found another trail cam set not ten feet from my camera. To say I was furious was an understatement and my first reaction was to do bad things to the camera . Of all the public land out there , why did they have to set a cam on my stand ??? I've put in a lot of time and effort into my stand and although there are a lot of hunters in 27 who set cams on every ridge in the unit ( most of whom I know ) Out of respect , I have never encroached on their spaces. I have six children and have always taught them to respect other people's property and if you find a camera/stand to leave it alone..... Yet I'am really fighting my head over this whole ordeal !!!!

    Youth hunters and grades

My two younger boys ate deer tags and a fishing trip to El Salto Mexico last year for bad grades. It killed me to go on those trips alone as some of our fondest memories together are hunting/fishing . I just couldn't reward them for not doing their studies. They were mad at first but looking back now they have both said they respect me for doing what I did. Good luck in your decision .....

    Need some advice

As I have said before , I know there's been many conversations on this topic but never paid much attention to them. I would first like to commend the three CWT members who pm'd me within the first thirty minutes of this post hoping it was not them who set up near me. I have offered to help these individuals in any way I can. They are true sportsmen !!! I'm well aware that my stand is on public land and "stands and cameras give you no right over another ". I do not leave my stand there all year ( only my camera) and check it faithfully every two months. Considering that 27 is one of the larger units in the state ( with a good portion being wilderness area) it is my personal opinion that if you have to hang a camera next to someone else's , as a hunter , what does that say about your hunting ability ??? I don't care how big a deer or elk someone else is seeing on their trail cam , I personally could not hang a cam next to theirs in good faith. Again , I appreciate all the feedback I have received on this topic...

    Need some advice

You're definitely right about the whole situation . It sits in a saddle and though there in water there in August ( along with the rest of the mountain ) it's dry the rest of the year . But overall has a ton of deer activity on it. As much as it eats me up inside , I would be willing to share my the spot with someone else. It's just the principal of the whole thing ..... What happened to ethics and courtesy ??? I've seen a million posts on this sort of topic . Just never thought I would be part of it !!!

Will forest service shut down roads due to mud?

Same as 4Falls , have seen the F.S. shut down the Escudilla area in the spring due to the roads being too muddy , but never in the fall . There is always the possibility though and I suppose if the roads are that muddy , then they would certainly do so ......
