    Axis Deer

Great job. I've heard Axis is the best tasting but haven't had it. If it is a good as Pronghorn it should be a 10. Arizona is such a small State compared to Texas but I wish we had them here and would love to hunt them.

    Texas Rio Gobbler

Great story. Those Rio's are fun. My relationship with my father was in many ways like yours. He has been gone 35+ years.

Calibers for next years youth gun giveaway?

Something in a short action would be better as a youth gun. While a great round it drifted into obscurity with fewer and fewer offerings in rifles and it can be problematic to find factory ammo.

    Lake pleasant

They are in the Herring family, very boney but supposedly good to eat and the roe too. They probably taste better when the water is cold. I would think that they would be good canned like a sardine. They can get pretty big.

    Coconino NF Road Status

No. Not until the 15th. Per the nice people at the Heber Ranger District. I call every year, I just wish G&F didn't already stock it and would wait a until the week after.

    Spring vs Fall Bears

Easier to pattern in the fall.
  18. Those were sweet. A customer who was a facilities director bought one when they first came out and brought it to work, back in the day when nobody cared. I hate the 1911 design but If I wasn't in the process of buying some property in Louisiana I'd snatch it up.

    7 day backcountry elk hunt

I can see why you're confused. J.M. Barrie probably would be confused too seeing Mary Martin in those green tights.

What is the highest velocity caliber?

When I started getting heavy into reloading in about 88 I bought an Ohler 35P which really was a big help. I have tons of powder, bullets and primers I have hoarded over the years and should really break out my presses and build a bench to get back into it. I used to back my 78 GMC up to the Silhouette range at Rio and do load developement right there. Of course it wasn't much more that the main rainge and the practical pistol range was just getting started. There was just one range master back then and we would call the range cease fires our selves. It wasn't until a years later when some dude capped himself and then a couple of years later when the range masters called the range hot with guys downrange still comming back from setting targets up at the 300 yard line that they started all the restrictions.
