I prefer the Remington's for looks and location of the safety. The lighter rifle will kick more and for a hunting rifle in 300 I would look to have the total weight with scope at around 8 to 8 1/2 pounds. I would also shoot 180gr bullets for elk.

What rifle do you have?

Probably the best stuff out there if you really need it and it can be a lifesaver but it is priced out of the reach for the average Joe.

Executive order on 2nd amendment
PRDATR replied to bowsniper's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
That's how I interpret it but since it is not the case now he will have BATF come up with a procedure probably modeled after what most states do now when you buy through an FFL holder. This will include any and all gun sales both private and retail but I don't see it happening anytime in the near future. -
just an fyi, I called the service dog agency they are using (az power paws) and asked about the process for a family to get a dog. Anyone else here can call them and do the same. They do indeed charge for the dogs. They charge the family $6,000 of the estimated $22,000 that it takes to raise and train the dogs. The rest is covered by the organization's fundraising as a non-profit. The family is required to make the $6,000 payment after a fairly lengthy approval process (which includes interviews with family, friends, and doctor) and before the child starts a two week "boot camp" with the dog. During the approval process, the organization requires the child and family to prove the need for the dog and has them comeback about every 6-8 weeks to see how the condition/need has changed. They require the child and family to spend time at the facility to see which dogs are best matched with them. Once they get a dog that seems to be a match, then they do the two week boot camp (mostly to train the child about the dog, since the dog is trained). I also confirmed that this organization is accredited by Assistance Dogs International. here is a link for that: http://www.assistancedogsinternational.org/location/arizona/ Amanda, I don't know where you find the time to run this site nevertheless do the research you do. I'm proud to be a member of CWT. I have a niece who went through this @ 3 years old and is now 32 with two kids. Yeah, she still has the disease and had an insulin pump for a while about 5 years ago so to the rest of the members of CWT all I can say is these are hard times for all of us and as a parent you never think stuff will happen to your child so donate if you can as every nickel helps so tomorrow just drive past Starbucks, Mickie D's or subway and spend that Five Spot on something else. I guaranteeeeee you'll sleep better. PRDATR OUT.

Looks like the Air Park. -
It's a G&F thing. They over hired, over expanded and should be referred to as the Bank of G&F. The whole Commission needs to be fired and the department revamped with a new Mission Statement. They are in hock up to their kids ears and we're their bank. I doubt you will ever see any of the Commissioners dare to venture into the field, for many reasons as they have shown they only care about generating revenue and how many tags they can flood into a Unit with the least amount of Hunter Success. First hunt in 36B is a ZOO. You call to talk to Unit Managers and never get a call back and the Tucson Office is the worst. They expect us to just sit back and take it. I say in 2014 AND in 2015 take a break and don't buy a Hunt/Fish License or apply for a tag. Cut them off at the knees. The game animals in the State belong to us not them. Each and every routine encounter with a Unit Manager is like going through the third degree. They are never interested in how you are doing and consistently treat you like some kind of criminal. They have morphed into the "Necessary Evil. I know Lawyers that I have more respect for.

I'll take all the 44 bullets.

It you haven't cooked it yet soak the meat in salt and ice cubes in water. It will draw out most of the blood and 90% of the smell. I do it to all the pigs I take. I usually bone them out in the field and use a 5 gallon bucket. I use sea salt ( non iodized) but any salt would probably be good. I first trim off the fat pieces and put three coffee cups of salt in with the water (1/2 bucket) then I add a bag of ice and the meat and let it soak for 4-6 hours, drain and do it again stirring the meat around every hour or so and replenishing the ice as needed. Congrats on the pig. Thatcher is a great place for sure.

I don't claim to have any answers but was he the type to not wear a seatbelt? I've known a few people who don't wear them. This is the first I have heard of a "Red List" or multiple shooters but I have heard the Coroner talked about wounds to the kids consistent to rounds from the Bush Master and I have also heard the rifle never left the trunk of the shooters car. If that was the case I don't see how that info can get so suppressed.

Nice way to break the ice. My buddy and I did lots of calling in the 80's using Circe calls, best 2 day tally was 16. I went out two weeks ago with my son and managed one but I was using an AR with open sights (1st shot with new gun)and hit him back a bit and I lost his blood trail in the thick stuff. He was very wary sneaking in and backing out. I still love to call and will probably never buy an electronic caller as I can still go for at least 20 minutes without any issues. I was always replacing reeds in the Circe calls but I have a Sceery and it still has the original reed after about 5 years. I attribute it to the Circe being hard plastic and the Sceery being a softer rubber. Who knows but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I would strongly advise against putting your street address down to keep harassment down from the likes of PETA or from some Lib newspaper posting it up.
