Have you used them in the field yet? How big is the FOV at say 800-1000 yards? I have used both 15x56's and 20x80's and the latter has a noticeably smaller field of view.

Most likely it was diatamaceous earth -- the same stuff used in many swimming pool filters. It's a non-poisonous, natural occuring substance. Each tiny granule of DE has many sharp edges that cuts through the ants' exo-skeleton, basically dehydrating them of all their vital fluid. Another one is Boric Acid powder.

Nosler Trophy Grade factory ammo
PRDATR replied to az_shooter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
FYI, "if" you are going to reload it i have read that the primer pockets tend to expand more than other brands of brass and won't hold primers so you may only get a couple of reloads out of them. -
This will give you some places to start scouting. The further away from the road you can get the better but the dedicated hunters will probably go two miles or more. http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/hunting_units_21.shtml This a good entry level tripod. http://www.opticsplanet.com/manfrotto-compact-5-section-aluminum-camera-tripod-w-3-way-photo-video-head.html?gclid=CPLk3fSZjbkCFeqDQgoduBkAlA&ef_id=UgwCNgAAAIG2wskm:20130820234311:s Good Luck and Welcome to the site. PS. Don't forget to take your kids out with you scouting.

I did handle a Charles Dal 20 ga Semi Auro last week at the Sportsmans Warehouse in Mesa but I didn't ask for the price. Pretty sure Wal-Mart can order them for you. Also found this just poking around. http://www.gunsamerica.com/955024787/Charles_Daly_20G_Youth_Semi_Auto.htm

During the spring areas like the Tonto Creek end of Lake Roosevelt can be productive as the carp move into the shallows and feed on the grass along the shore and are a bit oblivious to what is going on around them. They do get shot from the shore but many people have boats equipped with platforms to stand on and lights for night shooting. There were some big tournaments in the spring and there are quite a few posts about them on here so take some time and read through them. Good Luck and remember, aim low.

Places like Cabelas have some great clearance sales in mid-winter.

It needs to be two separate classes.

This may be worth some thought to keep the recoil down a bit, but shells will cost you more. http://www.woodburyoutfitters.com/product_p/1947.htm

Bass Pro had some of their Redhead house brand camo for $15 either pants or shirts when I was in there last week.

what would you do? i need some advice!
PRDATR replied to KILLDEER's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Send the coordinates to the USFS two days before the hunt starts. LOL -
Swarovski probably will not release them until most the stocking dealers have exhausted their stock. I suspect the new ones to be $2100-$2300.

So is marlin. oops...did I say that out loud? I had some smoke Marlin in Oahu and that was really tasty.

Pred, who the heck would be scared in the day when you can see and have a gun.Have you ever been down there and had someone sneeze at 20 yards from your tent at 2 am would that bother you? and what the heck would a radio do when your by yourself. The first time I hunted 36B my son and I were working the side of a hill about 30 yards from the ridge. I was just above him and came across a small game trail that went into some oaks. As I ducked under the branches much to my surprise there was a nicely flattened out bench complete with tarps, sleeping bags, cook stove, canned food, clothes and lots of Mexican magazines like the Hollywood gossip ones you see in the supermarket at the checkout stands. Made the hair on the back of my neck standup. Also came upon a similar setup in a grove of Tamarack's on a riverbank a few miles west of Red Rock when I was quail hunting. Can't say I have had anyone come into camp while I was there that I was aware of, but the last time I was there (last year) I was a 150 yards or so from the closest camp by choice as I usually retire early by most peoples standards and like to hit the hay by 10pm. Anyway there isn't much you can do if your alone and they want to come in. I have also been in a few areas down there where cell phone reception is nill, but at least with a two way radio the chances of raising another hunter are pretty good if you fall and break something.

Anyone Have a Barnes Loading Manual Handy
PRDATR replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
He can probably reach max velocity equal to that of 4064 but it will take a few more grains of powder. I only used my 08 for hunting once and that was with 110gr's on a Javelina hunt. It spent all of it's life as a High Power Silhouette rifle. -

That powder is awfully slow for the 08. I always used powders like Varget and 4064 for the 140's and 760 for 168 Sierras. I'd start at 41.5 gr and go up from there looking for pressure signs but you will probably end up with a compressed load depending how far off the lands you stay. -
The biggest bull I saw was in 6A. Glassed him and a buddy just coming out in the open late one afternoon after two days of rain and snow. I was probably 3/4's of a mile away sitting up on a small mountain in the southern part of the hunt. I waited for what seemed like forever for his buddy to move so I could get a good look at him when he finally took another step forward and turned to face me and I saw that there wasn't another bull with him and what I had been looking at was one huge bull. With light fading all I could do was head back down the mountain to camp a few hundred yards below. My guide and I got up early and drove through the muck and mire the next morning to get a bit closer and hunted that hill pretty hard but only came across a couple of small 320ish bulls.

If I'm not out scouting for my late Nov WT hunt in 33 I'd also come up to lend you a hand. The weather should easily hit freezing each night and you could see it into the teens. Keep an eye on it as we have had years when there was enough snow the Ski Resorts opened up by Thanksgiving. Make sure you let someone know where you will be camping, it's always a good idea. If you have other camps in the vicinity stop in a say howdy. Most other hunters I have met were always courteous and offered to lend a hand if I wanted one should I bee lucky enough to get an animal down. The rut will be over and sometimes you can find a few bulls together in the evenings when the shadows get longer as they get up to move around around 4-4:30. They are usually pretty worn out after the rut and start heading to their beds at sunrise. It is also common to see a few with broken antlers. Good luck

There are a number of devices you can purchase, this is just one. I have seen smaller ones about the size of a key fob. http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/product/spark+nano+gps+tracking+device.do
