    Oak fire in Galiuro Mountains

    Here you go. http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/3901/
  2. I will plan to attend on Tuesday. I don't see the point of putting in with the point to turn the tag back in just to get a bonus point. Can't we already just put in for a bonus point only? Would this increase the amount of people initially putting in thus increasing the draw odds?

    A Bowhunter's Worst Nightmare...

That stinks. I fractured mine when I was in High School when I was running and got ahead of myself and put my arms out to break the fall. It nocked me out of gymnastics (Rings and High Bar) for the rest of the year. I also had a pretty noticeable calcium deposit on it for five years or so. Bob is right about it taking it longer to heal as we get older. Last year driving into a canyon on the late November deer hunt I bumped a rock in my truck that violently jerked the wheel out my hand while I heard what sounded like a tree branch snap. It was my forearm which I assume I fractured and is just now finally getting back to full use, probably 80% and I can almost support my weight to do pushups. That was another one of my infamous solo hunts and setting up the tent was a chore and I didn't have the strength or dexterity to put up the cot fully. Two days later when I shot a buck it was a major chore getting it down off the hill to a place where I could bone it out. Thank God I was just over a half mile from camp and having a younger guy like Bob along to help out would have been nice. Don't be surprised if you are not able to draw you bow back but there is nothing wrong with dropping down 15 or 20#'s in poundage to hunt.

  9. What's your point? This has been on the horizon for sometime and is no surprise. I'm no expert and I have been around bears enough to know that from personal experience the bigger the bear the more the attitude it has and the less likely it is to give way. Wolves or horribilis are both plenty reason to be locked and loaded when out and about. I'm sure that someone will come forward "again" to plead that we embrace this other introduction so we can be part of the big picture and play nice with the Fed's because we don't understand it as this gets crammed down our throats because we are all reactionary and misinformed.

    Father's Day specials

You mean you didn't spend all day on Groupon looking for a pat on the back? Well your in good company. Being a Dad is making sure your kids feel good about themselves on Fathers Day and seeing their eyes light up. I guess if your "19 And Counting" then looking for deals could be a priority. As a father who is one kid short because I couldn't be there when the SHTF I can tell you every Fathers Day (and every other day for that matter) is bittersweet. My youngest who is closing in on his mid twenties called me at 6:30 this morning. I was most of the way through my first cup of coffee. He came over and picked me up and we went to the Mesquite on Baseline like we usually do and had breakfast. If you blink you'll miss it. A little place, nothing fancy just good food from a husband and wife, two people in the kitchen and a kid about 12 that has a great attitude and is probably their grandkid. Well Junior has been bustin his butt for 10 years on his Grandpa's cotton farm and just started a new job. No check for a few weeks so breakfast was on me. I also filled the tank on his truck so he can drive into Phoenix until he gets his first paycheck since he also has other bills and his wallet is bit thicker too. Life is good. As a Dad it's nice to be appreciated but that's my purpose and I am going to do it regardless as it has been over the years when I stepped up and did what was needed for my nieces and nephews at the snap of a finger. Glad to do it even though it almost cost me my job a few times. I get accused of "John Wayneing it" but I have no regrets. Resturant specials are helpful, no doubt and planning way ahead if needed is always a good thing for a young growing family.

    Riggs Lake

From this weeks fishing report. A pair of anglers who fished on Thursday and Friday, repspectively, sent in the following success stories from Riggs Flat Lake near Safford: Kevin Q: Fishing was excellent this past week. Both my son (above) and I got our limit within two hours. All rainbow in the 11-13-inch range on PowerBait floated about 18 inches off the bottom. The pH must still be off as there is a ton of growth in the water just off shore. But there are several spots by the dam where the drop off is significant and you can get your line in without snags. Daniel W.: The fishing at Riggs Flat Lake is outstanding. Brightly colored PowerBait like lime green or hot pink. We were catching about 10-15 an hour even in midday. (Riggs Flat Lake is located on the top of the Pinaleño Mountains, 40 miles southwest of Safford. Directions: From Safford, drive south 8 miles on US 191 to AZ 366. Turn right (southwest) onto 366 and drive 29 miles to the Columbine Work Center. Continue along Forest Roads 803 and 287 about 5 miles to the campground. The last 12 miles of this road are narrow and winding. See more information on Riggs Flat Lake from the Coronado National Forest website.)

    Fire north of Happy Jack

Jack Fire Final Update Incident: Jack Fire Wildfire Released: 37 min. ago (About 11:40 AM 6-15-14) Happy Jack, Ariz. – The Jack Fire, located thirteen miles northeast of Happy Jack on the Coconino National Forest, is currently 1,250 acres in size; the size adjustment is in large part due to a flight around the perimeter which more accurately accounted for the actual size. Firefighters were able to establish a line around the perimeter of the fire; there is no threat to the line at this time. No structures are threatened. The rock climbing area in Jack’s Canyon had been evacuated and is closed at this time. Information will be updated at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/3897/ . Today, the National Weather Service is forecasting a high near 84 degrees, relative humidity around 10%, and southwest winds between 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph in the afternoon. 15. I posted that Bergdahl was a traitor, and should be tried for treason, and put to death by a firing squad. POOF. post was gone in no time. The dude must be sitting behind his FB page 24/7 monitoring us trolls. Bashing the Lib's on blogs is great entertainment. It's amazing how many of them still have a hard on for Bush. (pardon the pun) In all of the video's I have seen of him it looks like nobody's home. The Mom looked like she was in LaLa Land when she and her hubby were on Nat TV with Obama and his comments in Arabic were very disturbing. You would think if you were going before cameras you would wear a tie and clean yourself up.

    WTB low power variable scope

Jeff look at getting a scope specifically for rimfire or muzzleloader as the parallex is set to 50 yards. And is you can find something with 3-4" of eye relief that will be ideal as kids tend to creep up on the stock and turn their head on an angle.

    R12-4-303 pitfalls

Not for game but we did this all the time back in the day. I would go into a wash and dig a hole, then put a 5 gallon bucket into it to catch reptiles, insects and such. Never a big deal back then as most hunters could still walk and chew gum at the same time.

    Zero stop setting

I have always had my 700 in 7 Mag sighted in 3" high at 100 yards using a VXll in 4-12 and this has worked very well for 20 years. Last year however Camerland had sale on the Zeiss Conquest with the Rapid Zee reticle so after looking through the same scope for over two decades I decided it was time to upgrade. The first crosshair is 200 yards and I sighted it in to be 1" high at 200 which worked well on my Coues last year which I shot at 216 yards. This rifle stays in the safe all year and only gets used for hunting. I take it out the week before the hunt a shoot one or two rounds through it to check zero and that's it. The rifle is fairly heavy so this year my goal is to see if I can lighten it up a bit.

    Selling custom 260 rem.

Patrick, Does it come with the bipod and if so what make is it? Tell me about the stock? What about the recoil pad? Is it Cerro Coated (sp)? Who did the bolt work and fitted/chambered the barrel? What velocities is that barrel putting out and what is the weight of the rifle? Do you have any targets you can post?
