PRDATR replied to a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Well, Well, Well, look what the cat dragged in. Maybe now we can get some intelligent conversation go'in on. -
If it has holes after just a couple of trips it may get more after each following use so I'm in the return it camp.

Last time I went offshore was 10 years ago for Albacore and I used a Penn Jig Master spooled with 20# Floro and did ok I brought an extra spool with 30# but never needed it. I have switched to PLINE Floroclear on my Calcuttas and Ultralights. The only down side is having a hard time seeing the line so I can follow the fish. -

They have offered a $1K Reward but they are still looking for the culprits.

Yeah I saw that. I think that makes 5 I've heard of getting caught this year. Suppose to be one of the best tasting fish out there. Sure would like to get out there. I haven't heard much about a Albacore bite though. -
Elk really don't care much about what's going on around them during the Rut once the sun goes down. As long as you are a few hundred yards away from the area they travel from when they bed to where they go to water (usually about 10pm) they won't be the least bit concerned about a generator, especially when they have not been getting hunted/pressured. I have been tent camping and had them bugleing and walking 20 feet from my tent. Running a generator will help you get a good nights sleep because you won't hear them bugle every 30 seconds all night long.

Chill out. This is Sneaker's post so let's keep it on topic shall we. Take it off line.

You should be OK. Now with that said a few years ago the rut took off late in September and the Archery Guy's were having a heck of a time. Just keep going out and watching them from as far away as you can.

Good one Edge. I had a good friend who live out in Apache Junction who had coyot's coming into his property and eating his German Shepard's food. He asked me to come out and take out a few so one morning I went out and got there just as the sun was coming up. I walked down a long wash and found an open area on a bend. I put on my face net, unfolded my stool and put a shell in the chamber of my shotgun. I backed up into a huge Palo Verde and slowly put the stool down into the sand. I took a step back and sat down then heard a loud cat like hiss. I looked down to see a 4'+ rattler coiled up about 6" from my boot. Needless to say I didn't do any calling that morning.
-
Not AZ but I came across a very aggressive Rattler about 25 years ago in Garden Of The Gods in Colorado Springs. It surprised the heck out of me to see one that high.
-
Nice bear for sure and some good eats too.
-
I'd check it weekly. Mainly because so many cameras get stolen so I would check it and then erase the memory card.
-
How is it? I imagine pretty spotty in places like Powers Garden, nonexistent.
-
Looks like a lot of hard work and dedication. I impressed, and a wee bit jealous.

Which caliber of tikka t3 lite for me?

You can also adjust the trigger with removing the stock. -
I do have Verizon but I'm probably the only person left in the state who still has an older (not Smart) phone. LOL I keep telling myself, this weekend, this weekend.

+1 on changing the recoil pad. I have a T3 Lite in 308 and the first thing I did was put on a Limbsaver pad. -
Who finally scored him Ernesto?

It also can get pretty darn cold there at night and you can expect to see frost on the ground in the morning. Took both my kids on that hunt when they were 10 & 11 I almost had to take my 11yo back to camp in the morning because her feet were cold and she had on hiking shoes. Fortunately she toughed it out and put a great spine shot on a doe at 200 yards with my 22-250.

This is really good advice and by parks he is referring to meadows. Make sure you are shooting at a doe as there are also elk in there too and get a mountain lion tag. Good Luck and enjoy the hunt and don't stress over it too much as I am pretty sure this is close to 100% Success Rate.
