BigBrowns and I met up with Rossislider and his son early this morning and waited for the sky to get light. It started off slow and gradually we had a pretty steady flight of Mourning Doves for a couple of hours before it became about even with about 50% of the birds being White Wings but by that time we were close to out limits. I ended up with 14/1 using my Winchester Model 12, good news was no snakes. It was impressive to watch Rossislider's 11 yo son nailing birds, that kid has a great attitude and a lot of potential.

Another couple of years he will be out shooting us all. -
I guess you'll have to explain that sometime to those of us who don't play.

That is how I used to find places to hunt. I would be looking all summer and would even go to places on the weekends and sit and wait for it to get light and then stay for an hour or so. I burnt a lot of gas but it usually paid out. I gave that advice to a co-worker a while back but he decided to go to his usual place just north of Florence and was very disappointed this past weekend as the birds just weren't there this year for him and his son. They only scored about five between them so he is going to have his work cutout for himself this weekend. He thinks it may partially be due to the abundance of water.

I was reading an article on this not long ago, I had no idea we did this. Lots of people don't realize it. I have seen quite a few boats listing on one side in shallow water in the back part of Saguaro because they had their boat too close to shore at night.

I would have said something to them about reminding them to pick up their shells and birds, but then I have a big mouth. LOL Thanks for keeping the place clean. -
This month there is a hunt almost every weekend plus the Fall Turkey Hunt at the end of the month which I'll be out scouting for between now and then. Good luck to everyone with a tag. Stop by and say howdy if you see me out there in 23.

Labs are shedding machines and Britts will start shaking nervously if you keep eye contact for more than a few seconds. They shed quite a bit too.

GRACO makes top shelf stuff and the ones I used in the early 70's were very easy and cheap to rebuild.
