Nice matures pig, congrats. Bigger than the one I got last week.
-
I have seen them going for just over $400
-
Nice rig. Good luck with the sale.

Ever since W8 upgraded to 8.1 the quote button rarely works for me and copy and paste only once in a while.

Good for you, that's the way to stick with it. 136 yards is a fair poke but I bet you can get closer if need be. Just keep the wind in your face and take your time and you can probably cut that distance in half. Especially if they are feeding, I have gotten to 10' a couple of times but their hearing is very good and it has been very dry out which makes it worse because most of the morning dew evaporates off by 9:30 ish. What setup are you shooting?

I have been watching the weather too, like a hawk even looking at the extended 10 forecast praying it will cool off about 10 degrees. But, that's February for you. I can remember hunts where there was ice in the morning and other hunts where I was out of water near the end of the day because it was so hoy with no cloud cover. My nephew from NY is making his first trip to AZ to accompany me so he is going to be in for a treat as his deer and turkey hunts upstate are on private land and usually out of a treestand so hiking a few miles or more every day will be new for him.

I did shop Pro Ranch few times but I found it to be too crowded and the quality of the meat, specifically chicken was disgusting. I did buy tortillas their and they were pretty good but I got spoiled buying them from the other place. Food City is a regular stop for me and I see them making them but they never put them put warm and I am sure that there are a few variations on the recipe because even when I know they were put out that day because of the condensation in the package they feel rubbery. And I'm talking white corn tortillas which seem to be harder to find.
-
I know there have to be some. I always bought corn tortillas from the supermarket on Main near Mesa Dr because they were warm and fresh but it closed down a few months ago.

Has anyone hunted the Hopi Hunts? The odds seem higher and I'm sitting on 15 points.
-
I bought one when they first came out. Nice guns and accurate too.

Is there much water in Eagle Creek?
-
If it was going to happen it would have by now. It's going to be 85 here in Mesa for the next 10 days.

Reno has been getting some, finally.

It's just football, nothing to get excited about. I usually watch part of it every year. Missed the kickoff but caught most of the really boring first half, but that's just the way they usually are. Did a beer run for 1/2, nothing to see there as it has been for the last 10 SB's. Turned it off after a few minutes of the third quarter. Never been to a game, not my thing. Poor role models all round.

When I went to put in there were not any numbers for separate Hopi Hunts but there were draw odds for them last year which was a bit confusing so I was thinking that if you drew say 5A you could then go to the tribe and get a Hopi tag.

Put in for a couple of early rifle hunts, so basically another bonus point for me.

7mm Rem Mag Memorial Build
PRDATR replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I think you found your load. "180 Hybrid @ 2856fps Bottom shot is on a cold/clean bore (I cleaned the rifle last night before heading to the range). Top "hole" is 4 shots." -
I believe it sounds like you have a Field Grade and I didn't see any mention of them coming with Damascus barrels but feel free to post a picture of the barrel and it should be fairly evident if they are Damascus. Field Grade production began in 1912, and it was the lowest grade available. The 1913 catalog said: "This gun is especially designed for those requiring a cheap, sound and plainly finished weapon. It is particularly useful for field and marsh where rough usage is required. The shooting powers of this gun can be relied upon to be fully equal to those of the higher grades. Featherweights are made in twelve-gauges as light as six and one-quarter pounds." Field Grade production totaled 199,384 accounting for 82% of the total production of L.C. Smith side lock shotguns during the period of 1912 to 1950. The price in 1913 was $25. A Hunter-One Trigger brought the price up to $45. A gun with ejectors sold for $35, and one with ejectors and the Hunter One-Trigger retailed for $55. It was available in 12, 16, and 20 gauge and later in .410. The barrels were Armor Steel in lengths of 26, 28, 30, and 32 inches. Chokes were bored from cylinder to full to meet the customer's order. Stocks were American walnut in full pistol, half pistol, or straight grips. L.C. SMITH was stamped on the lock plates, and there was no engraving. The right barrel was usually roll-stamped L.C SMITH FIELD GRADE and the left barrel was marked THE HUNTER ARMS CO. FULTON, N.Y. The 1939 catalog announced a new, improved Field Grade with an improved cocking mechanism, extra strength in the stock, and a reshaped forend. A Field Special was listed for $48. It was the new, improved Field Grade with ivory sights and a recoil pad. The 1945 price of the regular Field Grade was $65. Production data by gauge are available for only the complete production period of Field Grade shotguns from 1912 to 1950. Those production figures are 18 10-gauge, 127,255 12-gauge, 38,678 16-gauge, 30,924 20-gauge, and 2,509 .410 shotguns.

Great hunt right there. -
Well I got the picture but CWT.Com as usual is fighting me all the way to upload pictures and I tried two different computers.
-
That is the way to do it. I am taking out a newb and his friend in the morning scouting in 37 which is new to me but we saw some tracks the last time out. Hopeing on being able to take them out again next weekend and at least get them on some piggies but I have my own hunt up north on the general hunt.
