Remington Model 700 Long Range
PRDATR replied to Cell4soul's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Cabelas and Remington both have emails on the way. The phone number to the Remington rebate center goes to people who only know how to cross reference UPCs and don't even know the names of the various models. It was the Cabelas warehouse guys at the store that tossed the boxes. Said they threw 15-20 away because 'space'. Hope it isn't some sham way to de-fraud out of a rebate. I'm a little frustrated. Just management not training the warehouse staff. When was the last time you bought a new rifle anywhere and it didn't come with the box. Owners Manual and lock? -
Just don't drive on it. I go there often and have never used it.
-
Saggy? Been here for 40 years and never heard it called that.
-
That is the measurement I took on the deer I had shot. Measured from hoof to the top of the shoulder.

Two totally different cultures.

They have stocked some Florida strain largemouth but that about it I believe for warm water species.
-
My son and I hunted it about 5 years ago and we never saw another hunter while we were out hiking as every single other hunter we saw was road hunting.

1/4 mile wide and still moving.

If you can find a picture and scale it up that should work. Measurements I had taken were 36" to the top of the shoulder and 36" from chest to butt.

Even in late October you will get frost at night, it gets pretty cold up there. Well Jacob Lake is at 7900' and it can get bitter cold. While heavy snowfalls are rare you definitely need to keep on eye on the weather. I don't recall the year but I believe it was late 80's where a storm dumped so much snow that people couldn't get trailers and RV's out and were left there for the winter. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/History.aspx?month=11

I'd go $675 to $750 on a good day. No doubt you have more than that into it but that is the range for a factory rifle with a stock that will shoot the same size groups either from factory loads or tweeking handloads.

General Purpose/ Back up Rifle

I agree with you on the balance of a 24" barrel, it is my preference for a big game rifle. I have had a few rifles with magazines and have never experienced an issue in 20 years and an average hunt for me is walking 1 - 6 miles. That is with 788's and tow different models of Tikkas. -
Did you also fish for halibut too?

Nice "pick up" from Sonora Mexico

You need to tell those guys to stop giving the Puma's a free pass. -
Holding your rifle for consistency revised
PRDATR replied to apache12's topic in Long Range Shooting
Do you shoot doves prone? Start out with something reasonable like an open sight 22. Shoot targets at 50 yards offhand and see what your groups are. Then move on to a 30-30 with open sights at 100 yards and see what kind of groups you can get. Then take a rifle like your 6.5 and shoot offhand at paper plates at 200 yards and from a sitting position. Remember though don't beat yourself up over the size of the group if it doesn't meet your expectation, work on getting it to something you can consistently do and it minute of quarry in the kill zone. I used to go out to Congress and shoot Jack Rabbits with a 22-250 just walking around. Once the rifle is on your shoulder and your eye into the scope get the shot off in three seconds or less. There are a lot of tools like bipods out there and they are useful but not applicable to every terrain. Lots of experimentation and practice creates ability and gives you confidence. -
I don't know if there is a Walmart in Wickenburg but they can order you one and their prices are usually pretty competitive. What do you plan to build?
-
With BDL bottom metal.
-
It appears that what you have is a BDL.
-
Here you go? Hope that helps. This was the first run stainless they did in about 1992 in 7 Rem Mag.

This is a long action.
