I heard a lone bugle at Woods Canyon Lake Friday night. I also heard a flock of geese a little after sundown and then again at first light in the morning. As I was cooking breakfast I heard a turkey gobble about 7:15 just past the spillway. I have heard they gobble all year but that was the first time I actually heard one in the fall.

I have an early 50's Model 70 I bought years ago but never shoot it. Maybe I should rebarrel it since I have another 243 I shoot more.

When I first started shooting Silhouette, there was a guy that was shooting that was doing the drilling for Schneider, Gary would pay him in cast off barrels, just about everybody on the line was shooting a Schneider barrel, not so popular anymore. Don't know about now but back then Tubb was shooting a Schneider barrel, I was told that he ordered them ten at a time, and this was before he was making and marketing his own guns, so he was ordering them for personal use. Sam Shelly. I always go a kick out of how he would epoxy the barreled action into the stock. One of his guns was a 6.5/284 back in about 94 or so.

Yep, one of the few towns in AZ that actually has a no huntin within town limits law. I got cited for huntin rabbits with an air rifle several yrs ago. Funny thing is the Sherrifs deputies that came out called game and fish on us and when they came out they even said it was stupid. Told us exactly where to go just down the rd where we would be legal. The game warden sat there and bsd with us while we were cleanin our rabbits while the deputies were thumbin threw a book tryin to decide what they could nail us for. Deputies were pist off so they confiscated our air rifles but we were huntin rabbits 10 mins later with our wrist rockets a mile down the rd. Ended up payin a $50 fine. Did you get the rifles back.
