My friend inherited a Lab when his buddy past away in a car accident with his girlfriend in California back in about 1988 That was one of the smartest dog I have ever seen. Bob would just get his attention and move his fingers and Gunner would get down and crawl. He was close to 100 pounds with huge head, didn't like other male dogs and munched a few Pitts and a GSD when he lived in Laveen. Other than that he was an excellent dog, loved to fetch to the point it got annoying. He had more personality than most people and when my daughter was in 4th grade she took him to school for Show and Tell. Bob thinks Tom got him from Kellogg Kennels because he would point. He would also run from bush to bush when hunting up quail and when he had to poop he had a strange habit of backing up into a bush to do his business. He was one heck of a dog though, never be another one like him.

Depends what your objective is and how capable of a marksman you are. Now some will say you aren't a hunter if you don't spend $6K on a rig, and work up loads 30 hours a week. Plenty of over the counter rifles perfectly capable of out shooting their owners putting meat in the pot, if you're up to it, for reasonable cost, less braggin rights.

Do you have any targets that show groups? What's the trigger like?

Two New Rifle Upgrades Coming Soon To An Addict Near You...

if you install a lighter firing pin with a stiffer spring the pain accelerates faster when the trigger is pulled reducing lock time. This reduces the time you have available to wiggle the rifle and screw up a shot. True, but after years of shooting High Power Silhouette with a stock 700 pin and spring I never felt handicapped. I almost tore down a 788 to build but lack of a decent trigger at the time prevented it but that type of shooting is really so much more about the ability of the shooter than lock time. From what I've recently heard the lowly Savage Axis has the fastest lock time out there now. -
Buy that 7-08 Adam. I have dies somewhere from my silhouette days you can have.

My rifle was the first year Remington brought out the stainless so about 24 years old. Did you buy the Tubb firing pin? Lots of people had issues with it. My bolt has never been apart since I bought it. What's the benefit of the spring, just a little more oomph? -

Midsouth has some -
You could try the canned air but that's a lot of mass and once it's hot it will take a while to cool down.

Since you are looking to shave some weight did you consider the PT&G aluminum shroud? I may go that route when I get my bolt back from LRI in a couple of weeks. -

I have a pair of custom molded ear plugs that I had made about 15 years ago when I was at a Regional Shotgun Shoot up at Avery. There was a guy who had a setup and was making them. I think it was about $25.

Transaction was Smooooth. Thanks Mark.

It's on their website, so if you book it from there you have basically agreed to it. I work construction so if a project has a snafu and shuts down, no workie no paycheck. Pretty hard to reschedule at the last minute as we schedule people out three weeks ahead of time. So the kids don't eat, while usually never brought up goes without saying and was right to the point. Maybe after some continued arguing? These guides jobs are seasonal and every paycheck counts, like it or not. Most places like this are Mom and Pop operations with guides usually on a 1099 or working as a sub-contractor. If the main operation doesn't take in money that day they don't have the cashflow to just fork out a days wages. No Tickey/No Shirty. You contested it and if you loose the guide has to go 90 days before they get their money, if it goes in their favor. So how many times do you think they go through that in a season? Their weekly/monthly expenses don't get deferred for 90 days, do they? How would you deal with it if the guide had a car accident or family emergency and was a no show?
