I will be tenting it at the lake and heading up from Mesa about 12:30 so we won't be on the rim until about 2 but thanks for the heads up. It is pretty windy down here today too, plan is to maybe head to Casa Ramos for lunch Saturday. I was bummed out they closed the one in Mesa.

Good to hear that and I see that it is going to be cooling down for the hunt too. I haven't had a tag in almost 5 years and nothing agin this year but I only put in for bull hunts. I'll be camping at Woods Canyon with my son (4A?) and hope to hear some bugles and might find some time to scout for turkey in 22.

Weather drops like 10 degrees starting Thursday or Friday!!! Could very well see low 40's above 7000'. With any luck I'll be up fishing at WCL with my son Friday~Sunday if anyone needs a hand packing out.

Anyone contacted rifle basix lately?
PRDATR replied to bonecollector777's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Contact the vendor. Who did you buy it from? I bought one from eabco a few months ago for an Axis and it is fine. -
Well if Red Rabbit will lend me a wide angle lens,,,,,,,,

Good topic and somewhat timely. I remember my BIL telling me that once while on a yearly black powder camping trip with his scout troop off the 300 road a guy drove up and came into their camp crying up a storm that it was archery season of some sort and in so many words made some threats and opened up his coat to reveal an AK47. Wisely he the scoutmaster and other adults chose not to escalate the situation.

Pretty sure that is who I purchased a vinyl tarp from about 5 y ears ago to put under the tent. I was pretty expensive but very high quality. I believe it was a 22oz one 10x14 and probably weighs 15 pounds.

Friday I had made dove poppers using hatch chili and queso fresco after coating each piece in a mix of cumin and chili powder and I was wanting to do something different for last night. After slicing the breast I chopped up some more hatch chili and mixed it into the bowl of dove meat. Then I whipped up some egg whites and added the dove and stirred it up to get it all coated before adding the fish fry. I heated up a 50/50 mix of mustard oil and canola oil in the wok. Once it was hot I added the dove and stirred it to keep from boiling. It only took a couple of minutes to cook and then I drained it. Before I started the wok I got some water hot in a pot and when it looked like it was close to boiling I added some green cabbage leaves then let if boil for a minute or two until it was a little soft then took them out to dry. I added some fresh carrot to add some sweetness to counter act the chili. I like lentils so I cooked some up and added tumeric, sliced almonds and the top off two cloves. All in all the dove was incredibly tender and cooked perfect with a little crunch from the fish fry and it just melted in my mouth with none of the liver taste that can come from overcooking them.

Lance he told me he had driven all the way to Estrella that morning and when he came to the dairy he went up and asked for permission to hunt there. He was polite but apprehensive at the same time. Proud of you that you helped him out. Adam, maybe you remember my post from last year that I posted my house/bedroom was getting a bit rank. Turned out that I also missed a dive in my vest, for about two weeks.

Exactly the way I feel. I can do without the cc scars. If you are out walking around and not noticing/appreciating everything Lance said you are on the wrong website.

They are very easy to overcook and is you don't get all the bloodshot clots out it makes the taste stronger. When I cook them in the skillet I don't stir it or flip them over until about 50% of the pink is cooked away on the top. Once I flip them I take them out after about 30 to 40 seconds and let them rest for a minute or so.

These poppers were grilled on the top rack for about 10 minutes.
