Great story and congrats on the buck.

Call and talk to Shannon or AJ and see who they recommend. I chartered a day trip with them about 9 years ago with my buddy and our three kids. His daughter boated a Marlin in the 375-400 pound range while we were trolling about 30 minutes after my son caught a YellowFin that was about 135-150. She took about 45 minutes to get it to the boat and he took about 30 minutes. Unfortunately she and her brother got sick so we called it a day just before noon. The price was right at $650. https://live-bait.com/

that also happened to us outside of hermosillo, traveling at night. Make no doubt about it I love going there. I think my blood pressure drops 20 points while I'm there.

Midway was free shipping in the early days. Now you either pay tax locally and gas to get there or pay shipping. No free lunch.

Looking for HSM 6.5x284 Norma ammo resource
PRDATR replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Your inbox is full. http://store.iqmetals.com/65x284norma.aspx Thanks! Dang...that stuff is expensive...not to mention shipping. I keep telling him he may need to switch to Nosler. Just depends on how much he shoots. He can always roll his own but the cost takes quite a bit to recoup. -

Too bad that ATV shop isn't on Country Club any more.

My take on it is Cops/Police are Federales and then you have the guys in Military Uniforms. Either way, travel during the week and you won't see the Cops as much from what I have seen in my three trips since 2013. In 2013 I crossed at Nogales with the guide from Hermosillo and a friend from here. After we left the garrison I was pulled over a few blocks later. Under the guise that I didn't have a front license plate. They were definitely phishing. Fortunately Ernesto and Temo were there but they probably would have run me through the mill. It's definitely third world and buyer beware.

Optimal shooting distances for specific magnification scopes
PRDATR replied to CatfishKev's topic in Long Range Shooting
When my son and daughter first started shooting I used a straight 4X as they got a little older I went to a VX1 in 2x7. Shots were from about 30 yards (Kaibab Doe and Cow Elk) and later 200 and 305 yards again Kaibab Doe and Cow Elk. -

I'm no expert but maybe you can use a VPN and do a startup in another state so we don't get dinged with sales tax. Set it up so you are just a broker (middleman), no stock and markup 5 to 8%.

That really looks like a fun trip. It's probably been 18 or 19 years since I've been there.
-
That is odd. Typically a lion of coyote will go for the throat.

There is no shortage of Lions up there.

Congrats to him. Was he shooting hollowpoints and how far was the shot and what kind of penetration did he get?

Go see your Doc and get the patch. They don't sell the pill form anymore, which was faster acting. Seaforth is great. They will also rent you rod and reels, mates will clean and bag your fish. If you decide to take a trip into Mexican waters bring a passport.

Quick Scalie Hunt
PRDATR replied to azbirdhunter88's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have never hunted Mearns but have seen them a few times in the wild. It is amazing how close you can get to them. We had one sitting on the side of the road a couple of years ago in Sonora just a few feet from the truck and just sat there while we took pictures. -

Well I checked and all I have are the rings. I bought the rifle from someone on here maybe 3 or 4 years ago and was given some spare parts but as it turns out it was just an extra set of rings and not rings and bases.

Get the Leupold rear base that has windage adjustment. I may have one for a pre 64 and can send it to you if you want. These are the only bases I ever use except for the Talley Light Weight bases.

Most loads for 308 use a moderately fast powder and it typically doesn't see much extended long range, 500yds plus. With that said, for me I would be looking at 20-22" barrels for both asthetics and handling.

Chad just got a new Haas machine, donated his old machine to the local HS. He did my 700 bolt (Wrought Iron Flute) and turnaround was about a week and I had him skeletonize it. That was done on his old machine. Now that he has the Haas he is also running a special until January, 40% off so the Savage bolt he just did (Interrupted Flute) took about 3 weeks. You will need to go online and create an account then pick the bolt model and style of flute you want. When you checkout put NEW HAAS in as the Promo Code. I sent my bolts USPS Priority Mail on Saturday and he gets it on Monday.

I'm not sure if this is out yet and Hornady has not released the velocity yet but it looks like it could be "fur friendly". https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/rifle/223-remington-73-gr-critical-defense#!/
