    Handgunners-What gun, What bullet?

When I used my 4" Rossi in 357 I used 125gr HP handloads. This year I will use a Glock 10MM but I haven;t decided on a round yet.The HPR 180's group very good but they are FMJ. I am going to shoot some PMC 170 JHP and Grizzly 180 JHP soon and see how they group.

    Javelina Hunting Questions

Brine it in a 5 gallon bucket with 2 cups of salt and two bags of ice then repeat after 6 hours. Then put it in the fridge for 4-5 days. Keep it suspended so it's not sitting in it's own blood and drain the blood daily.
  8. Really, so no public land open for the rifle hunts? I am guessing then one needs to anty up and pay the ranchers access fees? With the draw tags I believe you are assigned a ranch, there are no access fees involved. In order for the rancher to get landowner tags, he has to let so many draw hunters hunt his property. This ^. You are allowed unrestricted access to the ranch. I didnt have my ducks in a row that morning and was trying not to be a prick so we did what the ranch manager said for the first couple hours and then glassed up a ton of antelope on a distant part of the ranch. Drove over there to get a good look at a really nice buck we saw bedded just off a road but before we could get to him the ranch manager ran us down and said we couldnt hunt over there as he had elk hunters in there (wasnt a tree within miles) and proceeds to drive down the road and run that buck off the road. We went back to cell service, called the warden and he advised us to carry on with the hunt. We went back over there and found the buck they were trying to run off from us and killed it. Still got a great buck but the whole hunt was kinda tainted. Thanks, I can see where that takes all the fun out of it. Hunting has it's highs and lows but it is still supposed to be fun and not a competition, at least for me. I have 3 BP's for Wyoming, maybe I'll wait another year before applying.

    16A Pig Report

Well I have seen them from first light to last light. I have killed at 3:30, 9AM 10:30 and seen them all day long and on the flats and up on the hills, all in 16A. I walk and glass at the same time. Some I know just like to get up high and glass but I like to cover ground and hunt the east side of the unit but not in the junipers. Sometimes it takes a few trips to find out where they are at. If you found poop where was it? Under a Palo Verde? Near a dropoff into a canyon, up on a ridge. We will get rain statewide tomorrow so get back out there on Wednesday and Thursday if you can. I have found that they usually stay in a one mile circle.

    Anybody else?

David I know how you feel. My son went though a phase when he no longer wanted to be my hunting buddy but he got back into it eventually and while he can no longer do anything that involves elevation uphill and down we manage to do a few other hunts where it is flat.

    Dry Winter

Weather Whether. Yes Knothead sufficient moisture and the trees stay healthy and retain enough moisture to produce the sap in amounts to fend off beetles.

    Anybody else?

I love to hunt them and shot my first one in the late 80's with a 223 Contender in 32. Doves and Javelina are two of my favorites and will gladly take any Javelina meat from anyone.
  22. No it isn't in AZ. Better post the regs that say that cuz that seems off from what I have always understood. Please and thanks I'll look but that is the reason processors stamp "NOT FOR SALE" on the packaging.

Winchester 300 WSM Laminated Stock Sold!

Depends what you're after. Not really needed here in AZ with our dry climate and doesn't offer up anything over a composite stock unless you want more weight. Nice looking though.

    Any handgunning plans?

Ayup, ugly thing. A muzzle brake on a handgun. But I reckon if it saves your wrist and gets ya close enough then it's, like they say. All good.
