I'd take it right now if you were up north. I'm in Mesa but not planning to get down there anytime soon. This will not last long.

I bet that took some doing. DId you fish from sundown to sunup? I bet your children had a blast.

I killed my first turkey 30 years ago not far from Greens Peak on a Spring Hunt. I went up on thursday and the wife and kids came up friday afternoon. We slept in the back of my truck in the camper shell and the kids, 1.5 and 2.5 slept in the minni van. They left Sunday and I shot a Jake the next morning.

Camo helps break up your silhouette and getting it torn up or blood on it is better than it happening to regular clothes but I hunted for years in the 60's-mid 90's and never used it. Also now we can get high tech camo that is specifically geared to hot weather or really cold weather that will keep you from getting wet when you sweat and wick the moisture away. I've have deer bust me at 300 yards when I had camo on and was moving.

Did you fillet them all?

It is going to frigid cold. Like 0 dgF at night. You might not see temps above freezing until 10AM and then by 3 it's be getting back into the low 40's. Go put on your pack and the heavy coat you will wear on the hunt then shoulder the rifle and get back to us. BTW, Wear that coat and go out and shoot rabbits all summer. Don't snipe them. Stalk em and shoot them on the run from 20 yards to 100. Yeah, get good at doing that. Then a deer won't be so intimidating. You need to work on those reflexes. People think they are going to see some dumb deer a long ways off then have all the time in the world. A rental truck won't happen for you at your age. If you have to use a 2WD get some chains and don't go solo if you don't have to.

That's great but why didn't you just go to ACE Hardware and buy a screw?

My Brinkman R2D2 is on it's last legs. Wild Woody's post got me to thinking I need a new smoker but don't know where to start. What do you guys have, what do you like and what would you do differently id you were to buy a new one? Is it possible to get one already put together and delivered in the East Valley or at least mostly put together? I am looking for something I can run for at least 12 hours without refilling the hopper.

You're in the Classifieds.

How noisey are they?

WW as you may very well know the wind yesterday was out of the west and Payson was socked in. When we left Pine today at 11 I could only see one small plume of smoke that was maybe a couple of hundred feet high.

In the past the big reductions came out in the first quarter of the following year. With a midyear product introduction it makes the most sense take those losses on remaining inventory in December. -
I'm in Pine and the neighbor just came over and said there will be 9 tankers coming in tomorrow morning. She said Pine and Strawberry are in the path. It was dead calm overnight and this morning. My son just left to go into Payson so we will see what the latest is when he comes back.

I can make that dive in an hour, with traffic it is 75 to 80 minutes. That's from CC and McKellips to the Casino.
-
Is the road open to Ashurst? My son and I are looking to go there fishing tomorrow morning.
-
That's from the fire out on Doll Baby. We were on our way to Bashas and about 5 miles north of Payson there was a 2 car accident after we passed it I told my son to turn around and we would get some steaks in Pine at there market. If we were to continue to Bashas it would be hours in traffic getting back to Pine.

Well we trolled the lake for almost two hours and only caught one fat 14 incher on a chartreuse and orange crawdad crank bait. It jumped twice and algae is the worst I've ever seen it. We left and went to Lake Mary and struck out. One the way back to Pine there was a fire that was 100 yards from the road in a stand of trees burning pretty good and had burned about 1/2 an acre. I called it in and they were already on it.

We went up to Pine yesterday at about 11 and there was traffic which added about 30 minutes to the drive from Mesa to Payson.

If it were you??? Caliber question

After witnessing an 885 yard shot on a Raghorn that piled up inside of 10 yards I would say the 6.5 PRC is a respectable choice. -
I am definatly looking for something that is low maintenance
-
Thats about average depending the age of the female. It can be more than twice that for an older one.

All of the regular commercial stuff I shot was really mild.

Great catch, what are the darker colored fish?
-
Most likely Mike Ornoski. I talked to him yesterday and he will update us when he has more details.
