    Protection of green cedars? FS

I remember driving through there and feeling a bit pissed when I first saw it.

    2020 Summer Cow

That's great, I think second day is perfect. On day to relax and a day to get serious and get it done before boredom and anxiety set in. That area looks the place when I took my kind on their Doe hunt in 99. I also saw some Elk in there too.

    Protection of green cedars? FS

We need all kinds of habitat for sure. I just would like to see any clearing done without leaving all the branches left scattered like what was done decades ago in 23 a few miles from the airstrip west of Young.
  4. Well it's a cheap round to buy. It's not a 1000 yard gun.

    What State

Plenty of affordable places in OK and TX. Waco is a place to look at if you want to stay in the west. TX is flat but the farther south you go there is the gulf if you like to fish for anything other than LG Bass, which taste like a mouth full of dirt.
  7. This ain't Craigs List. Post some pictures and a price. Then post it in the Classifieds section.

    New Sig Cross rifle

I bought an Axis about 2 1/2 years ago as a cheap lighweight gun for Javelina and Coyotes in 243. One of the holes for the scope base wasn't tapped all the way so I sent it back and they fixed it but also put on a cheap Weaver two piece base which I took off and put some Talley rings on it then sent the bolt to LRI and had Chad do some skip fluteing to lighten it up a wee bit more. Trigger was not the Accu-Trigger and was about 6#"s so for about $90 I replaced it with a Rifle Basix and have it adjusted to just under 2#'s. The accuracy went from about 1" to about .75MOA after I replaced the trigger and centered the action in the stock and torqued it down. The bolt will drag on the magazine if I palm the stock but it's not a big deal to me. After I bought it I went on to the Savage Axis Forum and joined the fun. It seems an awful lot of people on there have made some basic mods to the factory trigger to improve it and others have put rocktite to the factory stock to keep it from flexing and a few have put pillars in or just replaced it with a Boyds stock. Savage owners really like to tinker and more than a few have rebarreled them. There are a few who had light primer strikes and the later ones I believe have a 3 piece spring on the firing pin. Some have had light strikes or FTF with new guns too. Savage won't sell replacement springs to you unless you have an FFL so people have been getting them via a gunsmith. The Axis has been fine so far but there is no doubt that Savage could do a little better QC. I will say that the forum members are a great bunch and very welcoming and helpful. https://www.savageshooters.com/forumdisplay.php?104-Axis-Bolt-Action-Rifles

    New Sig Cross rifle

I hope it doesn't have some of the problems the basic Axis rifles are having with magazine and firing pin springs.

    No tag in the mail?

Grasshopper, you must snatch the tag from my hand.
  19. An FL? Rail Cars go coast to coast. stop at hubs/depots like the one north of Tucson or downtown Phoenix. Probably 75% are from out of state just passing through but there are still a few places in the state that load rail cars at their facility directly but most ship OTR commerce just because of the logistics though it is more money to do so.
  20. Good Ole Louie. We shot a lot of HP Silhouette matches together back in the day.
  21. "He then brought back a pile of rounds, unloaded from the firearms and extra magazines, and put them in a pile with the calibers mixed. (That frustrated me, as I felt it was disrespectful.)" I think the deeper lesson learned is don't travel with loaded guns. If it is a pistol on your body in my book that's fine.
  22. When an FFL holder take possession of a firearm, whether that person, company etc is a retailer, gunsmith or private dealer the firearm gets entered into a Bound Book or nowadays when the 4473 is digital gets stored as a record. That information stays onsite at the FFL's location until they surrender their FFL then it gets sent to BATF. "Should" a firearm with a Serial Number need to be "traced", the local jurisdiction contacts BATF, who in turn goes back to the manufacturer to see who they sold it to, typically in the last 50 years it would have been sold to a Wholesaler who would sell it to an FFL Holder whether that was a storefront or someone running an online business or someone selling out of their home. Once the firearm leaves an FFL Holder it might exchange hands 20 times in private FTF sales and never get back into the "system".

  24. " Would I be put up on charges as an accomplice to the murder?" No, but there is always Civil Court. "There is an inherent risk in purchasing any used weapon, even from an FFL. Just much less through an FFL." Russ I don't see any issue here. Maybe you can elaborate as to why you think there is an apparent risk when a purchase is made through an FFL Holder.
