Cold squirrel huntPRDATR replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting I was back in about 10 miles through Purgatory one year and riding into a spot where I had seen some elk the day before. Left camp about 30 minutes before sunlight and was a few miles from camp going down the trail into some trees when the horse started doing the Seabiscuit Shuffle on about two inches of ice. Thought for sure he was going to go down with me on him which would have sucked since my buddy and one of the outfitters hands weren't headed that way until mid morning, at best. That damed horses eyes got wide open and as we slid to one side I dug my heels into his sides and held on. Fortunately, he had the good sense to lung forward and got us outta that mess. It was all over in about 5 seconds. Never did tag an elk though.

Saw this on Instagram...what’s your take?PRDATR replied to Yuma Outdoorsman's topic in The Campfire You'll still have to print it so you can put the Federal Duck Stamp on it unless you just take a picture of it also but it does not have a specific number on it like the Migratory Bird Stamp.

Lots of historical info about the Kaibab if you want to take the time to do the research.

I'm guessing that was about 1950 or earlier. The population in 1940 was 500,000 and 750,000 in 1950. Fewer people and so may deer they ate everything they could reach, and cowboys tried to round them up to relocate them. No need for a scope back then.

That person would be Amanda Moors.

looking for a local guide (Tucson Area)PRDATR replied to walk-a-lot's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer It appears that the OP is looking for a person to accompany him and show him the ropes. Not an actual guided hunt.

I just remember reading the fines that would get posted I believe monthly. They would post the case and name the people followed by the plea and the fines. It may have been a sub forum when Terry had his website.

If you are concerned about the trigger recalls I can tell you that this was before all that.

We won't really know but if Steve wants to chime in I'm all ears. He has always been reputable and humble and G&F has been heavy handed doleing out penalties in the past. I have seen people loose their H&F privleges for a few years for killing one dove over the limit or one too many fish, which was on top of the fine. That made no sense to me economically.
