Call Eric at Axis Works in Tempe or go see him. He did a Manners stock for me and it came out well. Show up with a couple of pizzas or some donuts.

I drove to Kingman early this morning and had rain until a few miles down the 303. It was very welcome and it would be great to have a repeat three days a week for the next month.

I bought a SMLE in 303 British for $65 from Al's Bait Shop in Mesa about 1977. Never did hunt with it though but my first new rifle was a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 30-06 I bought in the early 80's from Walk-In Auto on Southern/Mill for $269 as a spur of the moment. I gave it to one of my brothers a decade later. I shot my first deer with it, a spike Mule Deer in a wash between Cottonwood Ranch and the lake hunting by myself. I had never killed a deer before and had a bit of a time hoisting it up in a Palo Verde so I could gut it then tossed it over my shoulder and walked about 100 yards back to the truck and drove home. The wife was at work so I put a tarp on the kitchen table and butchered it there.
