Well, the story is not wrong, but as stated, they should have known that everyone, I believe I saw that 133,000 had put in for the draw, would want to check results. it does mention hunter websites as a source of misinformation, but there were also double digit pages of people responding that their credit cards had been hit, so... since game and fish monitors this site, they should have known.

"Always wondered how they do the credit card thing......by last name A,s first or by tag # drawn,or some other way.....just wondering" My last name does start with A.

I was working the other day near Dysart Rd. and Thomas road, there is a community college on that corner, and I saw a big coyote chillin under the only bush in the field behind the college. There were joggers going by at about 20 yards and never saw it. I finally was making enough noise for him to get up, and the joggers scattered like he was chasin them down. Funny -
Considering purchasing my first deer rifle.

+1 On the Weatherby Vanguard. I have one in 30.06 and love that gun. I got mine at Walmart for $399 on sale. I did get an aftermarket stock and switch it to a magazine load gun. Put a Timney trigger on it also. That gun was way under MOA right out of the box, and with a middle of the road Nikon scope, and the trigger, it has done me well with everything I have shot at. I use good quality ammo for hunting, and remington core-loks for shooting at the range. (nothing bad against corelok, I shoot that exclusively in my .243) get what feels good to you, and your budget. -
And isn't it funny how scopes jump out of zero sitting in the safe. Got everything back on track, but fired many more bullets than I expected for "just checking." Now I just have to find the javy's

Good job, maybe you could tell us about the bow!

I have reentered archery with a new bow, and would like to know what release everyone is useing. I use to shoot a T-handle release, but would like to switch to a wrist strap style. So many to choose from. Thanks for the help.

.30-06 vs .270 vs .308: What do you like and why

I love a 30.06!!! most versatile round if you only have 1 rifle. you can get bullet weights to shoot a couse, or a Kodiak brown bear, and you can get that caliber in any Walmart or sporting shop in the USA where a person can hunt. -
I really think that Mossy Oak Brush works well in all situations in Arizona.

One thing I hate is when people jump all over someones post with negative waves. "I would almost bet had you just shot before distracting yourself on the beads you probably would have bagged your fox" Yep !@#$%^ shotgun sights. All my shotguns have rear sights, either a ramp, or the grooved portion of the top of the receiver.

"The kid who found it must be a hunter who understands the respect both deer and hunter deserve. Great story! " +1 It is nice to hear that some people still respect the Golden Rule!

Got an email newsletter from Smith and Wesson yesterday, and did some internet reading about the .300 Whisper/.300 AAC Blackout round. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these rounds? Sounds like an AR based, 30-30 ballistic equivalent, short range round. I see that Hornaday and remington, as well as a few others are making the round, but looks like $22-35 per 20 round box. Expensive imho for what you get. Any insite would be welcomed. I am interested in an AR style rifle in something other than .223. Thanks, Dave

If one can get a medical marijuna card from a doctor, how easy should it be to get a disability card for using a cross bow? Why should the state care what flings the pointed stick? todays bows are quiet and lethal from incredible distances, a crossbow is just another tool.

Stupid buck decided to bed down infront of my camera

If you need someone to get rid of the bothersome critter, pm me. Of course I am talking about the rabbit! -
"Sounds like pretty poor customer service to me. Usually a recall involves "making the customer whole", which means fixing or replacing the product free of charge to the customer. I can see why you are not happy with this." Agreed. I would not be happy either. They should pay you the suggusted retail value of the gun at the time of sale. Question: If the gun was blown apart, how is it functional still?

We always use cots and pads. I have Cabela's cots, the big man size, and have had them for 5 years. I just replaced one because it started to split from along the cot frame, and another one is just starting. I have used these cots all over and would recommend them as a better alternative then blow up beds. I feel they just give a better nights sleep. Good Luck.

Rem 700 accidental discharge.....Yikes!
deercrazy replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
That very problem was the subject of a recall of some 710 models. Of course my serial number was not one of the block that was recalled, but it did the same thing. I took the safety off in the bedroom, and the "hammer" dropped. I took the gun to a shop, and they adjusted it. So far no other problems. It wouldn't hurt to consult Remington because this is a common problem through out all the models. -
Good call, that was a shooter! Thanks for the story, There always better with family involved.

Thanks for all your input, I wasn't really looking at the Scotts. I ended up buying the Scott Shark. I was after the Tru Ball Assassin SST, but out of stock. So I decided to get the Scott because of other research I had done. Still might get the Tru Ball at a later date for a backup.

now what are those of us without tags going to do? I would love to hear other stories of "hunts gone wrong", I have lived so many of them. Like opening morning, sun comes up guys on every compass point, and I in the middle. no animal could have gotten to me without a hail of gun fire. Went home and cut grass.
-
I would be glad to hear the WHOLE story! It seems to me that all we have heard is that someone wanted to know if anyone knew who was the driver of a truck with a plate # because he and another group had a run in in the woods. I have followed this whole thread with a bitter taste in my mouth, laughter, distrust, and the tought that I know that a bunch of guys probably had a bad hunt. As a former midwest deer driver, our "unwritten" rule was he who puts the animal down is the guy who tags it. Not saying thats right or wrong, just complicates matters in the heat of battle. Waiting in anticipation of "the whole story"
