Marlin .783 22WMR advice
deercrazy replied to olmos1010's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I would start by going to the Marlin website, and see if you can download the owners manual. That would be the best source for proper disassembly and cleaning. Take your time, and get quality cleaning gear. Being in Mesa, I would go to Bass Pro Shop, or a local gun shop and get their advise about cleaning gear. Take your daughter with you so she can learn how going to the experts will save time and money. Good luck, and please post some pictures on her day a the range. -
Sounds like fun. I wish I had seen this post earlier, as I made plans that aren't as interesting. If they host another similar event, could you let us know. Thanks

I have a Primos tripod that I would sell. It doesn't have a pan head, but it has an adapter to put one on. Primos® New Trigger Sticks With Primos New Trigger Sticks, one hand and the pull of a trigger adjusts the Trigger Stick to your desired height. The Primos Trigger Stick is a lightweight height-adjustable gunrest and optical gear mount, perfect for kneeling or standing. Comes with a detachable 360° V yoke. It fits 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded fixtures for securing optical gear like cameras, spotting scopes, binoculars, laser rangefinders and almost any other pod-mountable device. Features trigger lock, fluid handle movement, whisper-quiet telescoping legs and stronger, light 7075 aluminum legs for easy carry with the included wrist strap. It lists in Cabela's for $169.00, I will sell mine for $75. Pm me if you are interested.

So a few weeks ago I posted an item for sale on Craigslist. An out of state buyer contacted me with questions and requested that I send him a Paypal invoice so he could put down a deposit for me to hold the item. We agreed on a price of $400 dollars, so I invoiced him for $40, 10% of the agreed price, and I stated in the invoice that if he came to my house, and did not buy the item, that I would refund his money in full. I also stated that if he was a no call - no show, after 60 days, I would keep the deposit. He assured me that he was coming to phoenix the following weekend because he was also purchasing another item from someone else in the valley. So the first weekend passed without a call, text, or email. So last Thursday I text him, and his response was that his work schedule changed, and he would probably be here this weekend. I text him twice yesterday, no response, and emailed him this morning with no response. I have not called him. My position, and I have stated this in text and email, is that I can't keep every weekend open for him to show up at the last minute without letting me know what's going on. I am unhappy that I haven't heard from him at all. Now the question I am looking for help with. Do I blow up his phone with texts and calls? keep the emails rolling? Or sit back and relax and take his deposit. I have not reposted the item on Craigslist because of our agreement, but I am not getting the money I need to fund another project that is on hold. Thanks for your response, Dave

I put 60 days because they guy asked all the right questions, and since it was his idea to put down a deposit, I figured it was a sure sale. I am learning lessons still every day. And I agree that I was soft on this sale. I consider myself a very trusting and trustworthy person, and I take someone's word as I give my word. It does burn me sometimes.

The Forrest Service has been taking "abandoned hunting gear" for years, and not only in Arizona. Michigan has a law that all stands/blinds need to have the name, address, and phone number of the owner. Arizona should have the same law. If the Forrest Service takes this property because it was " abandoned", then they should contact the owner, and give out a small fine and return the property. No information = scrap, small fine means that people get their expensive property back with a lesson learned, and the Forrest Service gets revenue. I wish I had a buck, pun intended, for every time someone moved in on my spot or area. Just have to get along, and realize that on any given hunt, someone could be unhappy. If we all lived the Golden Rule as sportsmen life would be much more relaxing.

Regular laundry dry sheets work very well. I believe that Bounce or some other brand come in un-scented. It really works.

7mm-08 or 270 enough for a Black Bear?
deercrazy replied to apache12's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I believe that both of those calibers would be fine with the shot placement, good bullet criteria. Lots of elk have fallen to .270's. If you take out their lungs or heart, they aint goin far. -
Those things are all over the campgrounds at Nascar weekend at Pir. They work very well, and you don't stink in the morning.
