I just got a Delorme Earthmate PN-40 on ebay. So far so good, it seems to be pretty user friendly, if you're familiar with how most gps units function. So what's you're gps of choice?

I'll be hunting on Ft. Huachuca as soon as bow season opens up. My plan is to see what the pressure is going to be like the first couple days so I will have an idea of what to expect. I'll be hunting a few mornings and evenings after work and pretty hard on the weekends, i live on post so the travel time to and from the locations will be minimal. There seems to be a lot of good country to hunt, and I've heard stories of some good mule deer on the west end. I'm pretty stoked because I've been stationed here for two years and this is the first real chance I'll have to hunt the area since I've been here. If the mule deer thing doesn't pan out, I'll chase whitetail. Has anyone here ever hunted mule deer on the fort, if so can you tell me what to expect? Thanks

Hey there pine donkey, thanks for the tip. I headed out there today after work, didn't see any mulies but did see 4 coues. I was near the northeast boundary hunting some hills out there. Could have had a shot at one, but he was smaller then i was looking for on the first day. I'm gonna make my stand out in that area in the morning. Maybe see something worth posting a picture of!

Take a look at the Flextone echo hd. I picked one up from wildlife callers for around $130 shipped. It comes with 100 sounds preprogramed and sounds good so far. Had a chance to head back home to southern co for a couple weeks and managed to sneak in 9 days of bow hunting. The season started off great with lows in the mid to upper 30's at night, warming up to the mid 70's during the day. I had a lot of missed opportunities the first 3 days of hunting, i missed two different bulls and several close calls. The next couple days were pretty slow, only finding elk that were way to far for the evening hunt and it seemed the wind was always swirling pretty bad in the mornings. My dad showed up and hunted with me the last weekend. We called up a really nice bull from a drainage only to have him hang up about 100 yds out and decide to head over the opposite side of the hill. Well the next morning we headed out and i glassed a really nice bull with about 20 cows and a few other bulls with him feeding over a bald ridge into the timber. I set up about 100yds to far from where they actually crossed and had to make a move. I was able to get within 40 yds and right when i started to draw i got busted by a couple of cows and a spike that i didn't see. Needless to say, i didn't get the shot. We started heading back the way we came and heard a bull bugle on the other side of the hill down in the timber. We started out after him and could hear three other bull bugling and a couple fighting, so we set up close to a wallow and started cow calling. We were about to give up and head out when we heard him again , he was on a b-line right for us. I saw him trotting in, grunting & snorting and figured the path he was going to take would be about 25 yds out. Sure enough, he popped out and i stopped him with my reed and let her fly. All i saw prior to the shot was his royals and i knew he was a decent bull, then i just watched my knock disappear in his body. He just kinda wondered off and we heard the crash and last few kicks. After letting him go for a while we started out after him and found him not more then 40 yds from where i took the shot, piled up in a bunch of blow down. It was a great hunt, i'll never forget it. Some of the best memories i have with my dad are during archery season. Here's looking forward to hunting with him next year and many more.

I just green scored him right at 270. Not to bad for a 5x5 in my book

ok, now i know where your talking about. Some big bulls in that country. I would like to hunt it sometime, possibly next year. I have a buddy that's from that area and knows it really well. Good luck, and let me know how it goes.

does anyone know how this rest compares to the quiktune 360? i was looking at one of those the other day and they look about the same. I think i may try one and lose the drop away to maybe pick up a bit more speed.

I think it adds a little bit of character to him, he has a really small on on the other side and he almost split in the back. He was almost a 6x7

slopoke is right, tons down here and i have yet to get out and chase em. there's plenty of places to go, just not enough time.

I ran into two this evening in 35A, they were walking down the montezuma pass road as i was on my way home. They waved me down and said that they were lost and needed a ride. I told them to wait there and i'd be back in a few minutes. Usually the BP are crawling all over the place there up and down the roads all day long, i finally found one on at the top and told them where they were. Hopefully they waited and got picked up.

Will do, i can hardley wait this last week has gone by so dang slow...to much anticipation for my first coues hunt.
