    My first predator season

Very nice job getting past the predator learning curve and welcome to the site. Time in the field with that lion tag in your pocket, you will run into an opportunity eventually. FWIW, I have run into 4 in the last 2 years, all 2-3 miles from the nearest trailhead in 3 different units.

    Reolink

Google with the site-specific method works best for me when I really need to find CWT history. I just happened to be the OP on this search hit. https://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/90535-home-videosecurity/

    Question about 6.5 creedmoor

143 ELDX have killed everything I've pulled the trigger on with one shot to include lion, deer and sheep from 90-450 yards. My 20" barrel gets 2735-2750 FPS with Hodgdon Superformance and shoots sub-MOA on a bad day. Lots of fragmentation is the norm, which would be the only reason for me not to recommend it as a hunting-specific bullet. I prefer hunting bullets to hold together for the sake of the meat. That said, in a slow moving 6.5 CM, it is still an excellent choice. I wouldn't use the ELDX in fast/caliber cartridges as there are much better choices to virtually eliminate potential meat loss. It keeps 1000 ft-lbs out to 850 yards and minimum expansion velocities beyond 1000 yards. Much, much farther than I would shoot on game. "The new Hornady ELD-X™ hunting bullets are designed to deliver the highest BC possible for the specific bullet caliber and weight. They also provide match level accuracy at long range and effective terminal performance from maximum safe initial velocities down to ~1600 fps."

Big AZ Trout on the Fly

Anyone willing to share any proven methods or fly patterns that big trout in AZ have taken? Speaking mostly to holdovers in the deeper mountain lakes and not interested in spots. I'd be happy to trade detailed crappie tactics or anything else I know via pm also. Thanks for any info!

    Different brass question

I sorted out the first 25 pieces from a box of new Lapua brass that had the roundest, most uniform necks and loaded them after an established load was made with FL size prep, no chamfer/debur. They shot identical. I did the same with Norma brass in a different gun and had great results also.

Calibers for next years youth gun giveaway?

Just some thoughts from someone is NOT a resident ballistic expert - Re: 308 Win. Energy isn't a problem until past 500 yards and it is my opinion kids shouldn't be shotting that far anyway. The extra velocity in the 7mm-08 could assist with a single 250 yard zero, less drop between ballistic dots, or less turret movement overall. Even if only slightly, 7mm-08 has less recoil and there are lots of reduced recoil load options. I also like the BC of the .284 for the bullets I would use.

Calibers for next years youth gun giveaway?

Consider turning this into a poll, OP. It can still be added by editing the original post.

Calibers for next years youth gun giveaway?

I wouldn't make it as THE but it is a fair recommendation. Lots of factory ammo and reduced recoil options in addition to this. I think a dedicated youth gun gets the 7mm-08 nod from me. Hands down 243 Win if it was deer only.
