  1. Recently purchased the long needed Browning gun safe at S. warehouse and have no need for the old Homak small gun cabinet. It's steel with 2 coke machine type locks on it. I have 1 key left to lock em. It bolts to a wall or floor closet type. I think I paid $100.00 for it at Walmart years ago. It holds 5-6 rifles and has a small shelve built in at the top. 30.00 you pick it up and it's yours. I live in Gilbert near Higley and Germain. Home all weekend doing yard work. Any time after 5:00 Fri. Send me an e-mail to arrange. I'll reply ASAP. Other wise it just goes in my shed. Dan

    FINALLY!!!!

Cool. whats the hours and pay these days. I used to ride my bicycle out there Tues Thurs from Brown and C Club back in the days when Don and Betty owned the original Beeline trap and skeet. Think it was $3.25 hour. They were the nicest people. Many fun hours watching the apache helicopters train and throwing shoot at lizards in those old trap boxes. Had that machine down pat loading doubles was alaways thee funnest. Until the puller gave you the helicopter resting there finger on the button. Funny cause the shooters would know the puller screwed up when birds came out to many almost instantly. Thanks for bringing back good memories. Dan
  4. Question: Recently bleached a skull from a WT I had in my freezer and was wondering if anyone knows the rules on how long tags are to be attached to the harvested deer. Obviosly if you tag them thru the gambrel its over unless you make a coat rack or something out of their legs and want what looks like a reciept left on the thing. Does the tag have to remain attached to the anlters? Is it illegal to remove them and dispose of them? Taxidermists I've used normally all staple the tag to the back of the mounts. Maybe thats just a courtesy thing and helps them identify ownership. I'll wee what the WT community has to say on this topic. Thanks, Dan

    Hunting Regulations

Rembrant thanks for looking,.. I figured I would leave it on until I take it to a taxidermist to fix one tip broken off a third point on one side. Atleast then it will be logged. Those tags are tuff it withstood the boiling water and bleach and the unit # along with other printed data is clear as can be. Is there any certain stain that you recommend to touch up a little of the bases that are bleached? Thanks, again Dan

    Daypack/backpack

Deerslam, I have the Justone pack I bought 2 years ago for 200.00 at Sportsman warehouse. Kinda pricee. And they are really nice packs but just like the name I have used it "Just one time". On a 10 day back pack trip into unit 32 in 2003. It was extremely nice packing the boned deer and head out with the rifle in the scabbard. Hands free. It is only good for getting lots of gear in and out and thats all. Day to day hiking with a tripod and all the other equipment for a full day outing,.. withstanding who knows what kinda weather it is useless. To big. I recently purchased a Kelty pack from sportsman warehouse for a 100.00 and it works just as well. I packed a boned out WT and head plus my tripod and some Dec gear and it held up good. The Justone pack fits your back comfortably and has all kinds of room. It is designed for serious back country hunting. I will probably be using it again for hopefully packing out a bull elk this year. And hope it holds up to that weight. Recommend bringing a day pack with you if you get one. Dan

There is a large rv storage facility right outside of Flag on west side of road. You can see it from the highway. Kendrick park/peak area up route 180 is a good area to start. Seen lots of bulls in there. Dan

    CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!

Never purchased any scent lock clothing myself. What really happens to that new charcoal stuff once you wash it? Does it really last? The forhead pouring sweat and not wiping it on your sleeves is the hard part after conquering a hill. Or even worse the rim of the hat getting soaked. I usually break green off junipers etc, and rubb the heck out of them into my clothes as I'm walking or when sitting. It's called Cedar lock. Good topic, because we all know we smell like shoot to deer in one way or another. Of course some deer probably have better eye sight and think man that dudes been beat with ugly caliber stick.. Dan

    Paying the indians

I'm going on my 19th year in machine shop and I finally get 5 weeks vacation on my 20th dang I can't wait. Amazing my career thing I chose in high school was a smoke jumper. Never made it to the original dream. One of those had to pay rent and survive after momma gave me the boot in 11th grade. Still walking and breathing always enjoying my home state. Bird problem

How are birds destroying your garden greens? and not catepillars, rabbits, gophers or other insects Sounds pretty bizarr. Put out a quail block ($9.86 Walmart) away from the garden. Dan

    Spot and Stalk

Yep, easy to relate to whats been said. I prefer to get to an area in the dark preferrebly. Glass, glass then move and glass some more. I'm usually pooring sweat behind my (back pack and forehead or hat) and when I sit down that sucks if a deer is around that don't like a stinky. But shoot happens. (couple of silver bullets the nite before doesn't help sometimes) On a different note: Yet happenning at the same time to every one thats hunting,.. SCENT LOCKERS do they really hold in the smell of serious sweating. I have not known many people using them. I was going to start a new topic but it ties in with this one pretty good. Be waiting for feedback. TGIF Dan H.
