Nice buck bet he was excited. The dude in the picture looks like he may have forgotten his toilet paper. And sacrificed the old sleeve instead of the sock. Been there done that. Dan

I think this topic came up last year also. Unfortunately,..Road hunters will never go away with all the people moving here and hunting now. For them it's all the luck of seeing a deer with open eye sight close enough from the road to shoot at. Majority of them won't see shoot and when they do they will shoot at any thing with antlers. Thats sad to cause I have heard as many as 8 rounds fired spontaneuosly at deer from 2 or more hunters from the same vehicle. That is not hunting when everyone with a tag opens fire on a single deer. And they probably don''t go to see if they wounded their deer if it appeared to keep on running. Sometimes you can hike into an area and use them as an advantage glassing. By placing yourself a few miles in between roads. Road hunters will never see as many as a glasser driving around. I use a quad or my jeep to get me into areas without beatin my F-350 up, but I don't consider myself a road hunter preseason scoutin I glass a lot from the quad/jeep off of a road side. Sometimes I have wished my quad had a remote door opener I could push like my truck cause it is hard to find at nite when returning. This weekend I will be road hunting. My jeep will be parked off the highway between the last dirt road and a major Az lake, from there I will blaze it straight up and over a few hills to see what all the road hunters push. No Tag for me this year that really sucks. Dan

I'm sure some members here would like to know: CHD, has a new name. "Whiskey Man" I recognized his antelope posted on AZOD Chat site. CHD why don't you visit CWT any more? Or post any killer pictures here any longer? Dan

Cool I didn't know the Bone was that hard under the velvet. Thats good,..I figure a couple beers to celebrate the find. XX Eye guard, where are you buying the white auto decal tape rolls to make your stickers? Or are you having them custom made? I want to get a roll to design a decal. Dan -

I had a shot this past Sat up in tonto creek at about 20 on the ground, and didn't shoot. I pulled 2 out of the air with 1 shot though when they came over the edge of the mesa. I was pretty excited on that one. 7 almost happened to me on the ground. dang you got a nice tag at least. I'm heading back up this weekend, for a couple more attempts at limiting out. I took 8 last Sat. I waswondering today what if you freeze 8 1 weekend and then bring home 10 or so more and go to fry them all at once for a cook out could the game and fish bust you for more than 15 in possesion? If so I would be forced to feed only friends with a 06 license to cover the quantities. Dan

How about Alaskizona? Since you went there for some awesome work and will probably go back and forth again. Dan -
Allright,...CHD,... I was correct on your antelope. Welcome back. What did you draw this year? I'm quail only until dec archery this year. Dan

Why ain't they smiling? Dan

Allright<,....I backpack in for almost all my deer hunts the whole hunt, when I get drawn. If not then backpacking in for archery is usually a little shorter 3-6 days. My wife and I usually pack in some supplies the last 2-3 weekends in a row before the hunt to get some scouting in also. We pack in the weekends early on a: Small dome Tent or my Wentzel single, a good Tarp Couple gallons of Water Couple of canned foods (Dinty Moore and Chili) A lite weight handled grill piece MSR cooking pot Fuel Small tripod chair Depending on the years weather outlook a blackcat tent heater (w/propane) maybe some light stuff to like socks, silk thermals, rope, aa, & aaa batteries, flamage, and some misc utensils.. The main trip in then I have room for my tripod, scope, binos, and weapon. I pack a slumberjack -10 and a fleece blanket inside. Never froze yet CampinAz mini lantern w/MSR ISOPrope MSR mini jet burner uses ISO. Then for the rest of my food for the hunt: I usaully pack in frozen steaks and a pre-cooked potato, & a mini can of corn or beans for the first long days dinner. Oatmeal for every morning Tuna/Chicken packs for lunches w/stolen Circle K mayo on a hamburger bun or a smashed loaf of bread. Big bag of misc snacks for sitting under a shade tree munching midday. And a couple dehydrated dinners for the balance in between the canned food nites. Oh and most important a flask of Brandy or Cognac for a few shots before bed. Sure I forgot something it always happens. Can't wait the 18th till the 22nd Reavis Traihead 10 miles. Dan

Yep, I could have used one of them deer tags this year. Javelina are far more exciting to hunt with a bow any ways. I'd rather not hunt them with a rifle. Dan

I have the Swarovski 60 and I bought a scope/tripod semi-soft carrying case at Az Sportsman. It fits in the backpack well and straps to the outside very easy if space in the pack is needed for serious gear., comes with a sling and adjustable buckle straps, it holds my bogen tripod w/pistol grip just fine. I think it was only 60.00-80.00 a few years back. I'm sure if it bounce off a 100 ft cliff the scope would be just fine but I wouldn't. Dan

what unit is that from?

Either way it's hunts like that you will cherish for a lifetime. Funny all the people talking about gnats here in Az ain't seen shoot. Those bugs in AK look like they could do some damage. How was the fishing? Thanks for sharing the experience. Dan

Marlon, as I said last time I met you I sure envy ya!!! It was a pleasure meeting you those few times in person and will be hard to get used to not seeing your replies on CWT. We just made the leap yesterday and purchased a half acre right on top of tonto creek, in tonto basin. Like Scottyboy we are selling out and gone from this valley in 2 years. Only for the living part though I am still gonna drive down every day "for my next 20 years". . But it is a road I love to drive an the area I grew up messin around in. And no mortage payment. Best of times ahead to you and your family. When you go live, with your new name WYO4Life. let us know. Some of us will be putting in there to hunt and may need get some pointers. Dan -
dang, yotes/cats why do they always go for the bucks?
-
I have the same problem with mine it would always shoot on the second time cocking. ????? I retired it and bought an Encore TC .50 cal. And it is awsome. Dan

Those deer will end up dead eventually with everyone feeding them junk food just like all them deer at the grand canyon some yeras ago. Maybe they should have offered them some Coors Light?
