    UNIT 24

Backpack into 24b. There are some brutes back in this unit. You just need to go in quite a few miles. If you draw the Dec WT let me know I pack in there every year right around x-mas tag or no tag. And maybe I will finally have a tag this year also. If not your welcome to come along. 10 miles to base camp. I may have some shed photos posted here in April I plan on going into find from bucks I saw this past Dec. Dan
  3. Nice Buck!!! Is there a huge price difference for self guide vs guided? Dan
  4. Saw all the sherriffs posse and volunteers on 87 yesterday when I was out glassing and varmint calling. Found on line what was going on when I got home. Figured a good percentage of hunters on this site are in that area quite a bit. Always that chance someone sees something and isn't even aware of it. Prayers go out to that family. From AZCentral.com: Still missing are a tan sweater, blue jeans and Motorola cell phone that belonged to Jackie Hartman. Police are asking hikers in the area to be aware of the missing items but not conduct their own searches. Dan
  5. F'N Jeff,..If it was on the front windshield it was me. I park along 188 a lot and hike in glassin. I didn't get my pig. But had a 60 yd shot at this guy Sat. And blew it. Dan

    Whats In A Name

When I joined in 04' the few names I wanted to use were all taken. Funny thing is I have never seen any of those names posting on here. I have had a lot of nicknames but the people that called me them are not internet users. So I figured I'll just put my name. I didn't know you could change your name until today readin this. If I do I will become W8N4RUT. Matches my license plate, and it sums me up I love being in the hills during the Sept elk rut and Dec/Jan deer rut every year. It's when I take 90% of my vacation time every year for the past 20 yrs. Dan Hoffman

    Old Matching Set 24b

Yea, I have never drawn the Dec hunt and it's been first choice for a lot of years. Someday I'll draw and I'm gonna have horses take my gear in for the whole hunt. But because of that impossible Dec draw I have come familiar with the southern units as well. I'm hoping for this year as well. Dan

12 MILES INTO REAVIS TRAILHEAD! Only thing found. Not a good year compared to usual. Dan

    Old Matching Set 24b

Yes, it was. I usually pack in there in Dec and Spring time to look for sheds. Did you have a Dec WT tag? I wish i would have drawn it. I carried my .222/12 ga, and called in a huge bobcat 1 afternoon in the snow storm. Idiot me left it on 12 ga with the dead coyote load and peppered the snow right in front of him. Saw 3 WT toads and am going in after their sheds in the spring. Dan

    X-Mas 2006

Yea, I was gonna plan on extra batteries. Thanks, Dan
  15. Anyone on this site ever had any experience using one of these? And if so is it worth the $500.00??? Soon to be Early X-Mas present. I have 3 weeks to try it out at the end of the year. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Dan

    X-Mas 2006

Thanks, for the info: I got it! Hopefully, I will have some posts after the holiday of some downed varmints. It's a lot smaller than I imagined from the pictures, that's kinda cool for packing it in. Dan

    Jumping Jack Trailers

Bet your really hoping for snow to push them bucks down the strip. That must be an awesome hunt. If only the AZGFD would allow an archery hunt like for lifetime az residents in there in nov/dec as a supreme bonus or something. The odds of getting the strip are getting worse every year. Well we'll be waiting for photos from your hunt. Dan

    Copper Sticker

I got an emissions test requirement this year for my quad that I couldn't believe it. And it's been in Tonto Basin for 5 years. I am going to register it up there I just bought a half acre there Tuesday. And am moving there in 1-2 years permenantly. I hope to get a mule once settled in if were allowed to, for pack trips into reavis ranch area I'm tired of walking in there with full loads each year. With a mule I can haul steaks/beer. Dan

    Copper Sticker

Got to admit LOL "Mule Humper" that was a good one!!! Hey, If you can afford it why not! Every cowboy, or ranch hand I know or ever seen in Az has quads to. They just don't legalize them cause their not in Maricopa county. Or can't afford to, or simply just don't believe they should have to. Like the city slickers cryed. What seems to be the problem down there in Safford? RODNEY KING

    Women Clean House!!!!

Man those are 2 nice bucks, I like the palmation on the one side. I would definetely buy them ladies a drink for all their success. Great job! Bet that was fun. I am finally getting my wifes first WT back from the taxidermy this week. Haven't seen any posts from you lately for recent shed finds. Did you guys find any sheds while out there? Dan

    1 in a million

DB, Thats cool to find it years later. Pack rats chewing up the plastic reminds me of back in the 8o's we packed into reavis ranch 1 year and decided to stash the truck keys along the trail. 5 days later we returned and no keys. Pack rats moved them 15 yds away dang near in a hole and chewed all the plastic off the keys. We were lucky. needless to say we never stashed keys again. Send it into Garmin with the story maybe they will honor the story and replace it. Dan

    A Fulfilling Success

Why didn't you shoot a lion? I would of passed on the deer for a lion, and tried for the deer later. Nice story and great job though. Dan
