I believe the game and fish just flat out does not manage deer here. They are to preoccupied with elk and wolves. 900 tags in unit 27 for mule deer. Its sickening to go up there and see that, especially compared to what it once was. I asked a warden once why they dont shut certain areas down to let the population rebound and they said it wouldnt make a difference. What a crock! Yet it was done right across the border in NM and worked in same type of terain. Its money that matters nothing more.

My question is, why do other states and tribes and such utilize this means to help make hunting more accessible to more people by not allowing the same people to get drawn over and over? They more or less do this with Bighorn sheep and Buffalo on a more extreme level.

no need to break in with a chrome lined barrel. They are made more for high volume shooting not tack driving. Doesnt mean it wont or cant be very accurate though. Chrome lined barrels are good for SHTF guns(ak's, sks, certain AR's).

+1 i think they should do that for elk also And on any big game taken, the survey must be filled out and sent in or the hunter becomes ineligible to hunt the following season. G&F could seriously use this as well. Absolutely!! Is there a way we can make recommendations for this? Seriously! Or has it been done and shot down and if so why?? Especially the part about waiting or being eligible after five years or whatever after being drawn for a trophy or high demand hunt.

Been thinking of getting some additional articles of camo this coming year. Is there any kind any of you like specifically. How about one you use for calling predators but have used on other animals like deer, elk etc? Like a one size fits all type that seems to work every where without spending a mint trying to match every terrain.

I'll have to pull my clothes out and check but mine are the Realtree Hardwoods I believe?? It has alot of brown but some green as well. I like the ones that have some green but not a ton. It seems alot of the stuff designed for back East hunting actually blends in out here pretty decent. Better than I would of thought when I saw it out here in the field. I am leaning toward the Realtree Hardwoods APG. Seems to have some good tan,green and brown mixtures.

Nice elk! I made a promise I wouldnt shoot any spikes early in my hunt and killed a average to small 5x5 first day and kinda wondered if I should of held out for a bigger one. Reading your story makes me realize I think I made the right choice. You just never know. Where did you get that gambrel hoist you were using if you dont mind me asking??

I will try those and look those up that you mentioned. I like to read here and there but when I do I usually like non-fiction, informative books that you can learn from. I like all the boring stuff like History channel, etc. So thats the way my mind is geared towards. My wife just loves the History channel shows too ! If you think of anymore please post. Thanks!

Yeah it got me!! I was all close to the screen waiting to see a huge elk, deer, etc. Scrolling down and I see that...... !!!! Makes me wonder what it is or how they set it up. Looks like somebody in thermals bottoms who passed out at camp and was left outside by the rest of the crew and woke up in the middle of the night and realized what happened !

Lark, I agree with you. I'd like to take shots back at you Scum Devils but UA has let me down and pissed me off so much this year, I just kinda lost my gas to do it . The loss to ASU wasnt even the worst of it, cause I honestly thought it might happen. They actually looked worse this year in ways. This team just didnt have enough heart. No explosiveness. I think Mark Stoops and Sonny Dykes took that with them when they left.

Just like the commentator said last night, Every coach says his team is a young team, hurt team, etc. You play with what you have. ASU deserved this game but dont go crowning them anything yet. They still havent proven anything with one key win. Remember, Oregons QB is a FRESHMAN, and there RB(Lamichael James) is a sophomore with a much better coach, program than ASU or UA! Only time will tell who does what from here on out.
