Special thanks to Craig Shelley who works with HH Outfitters for his help throughout this whole experience with scouting & helping us to score all the sheep we got on video the last 6 months. Those guy's know their stuff!!

Here is the scoop on what hunters told us about their deer hunts this past weekend. Overall the weekend was slightly above on success rates from last year at our store despite extremely warm weather and high hunter pressure. Those hunters that were willing to leave the roads looking for coues deer had moderate success and reported seeing good numbers of both bucks and does. Central whitetail units like 22,23,24A/B seemed to be slightly lower on deer numbers while the southern units had slightly higher numbers according to hunters in the shop. Mule deer hunters ( in the limited units that opened) also had moderate success and even kiabab hunters struggled to find high numbers of deer. We did get in a few really nice whitetail & muley bucks and we will be posting the pics on our Facebook page soon. Good Luck to everyone with upcoming big game hunts. Here's the information we received from hunters in the field this past weekend: For hunt units 5A,5B, and 6A. The antlerless hunters in these units did much better than the archery and junior hunter's earlier in the season. Hunters reported seeing good numbers of elk, bulls & cows in units 5A and 5B South. Unit 6A and 5B North hunters had mixed reports with most in 5B N reporting low numbers of both bulls & cows. Unit 6A hunters reported seeing low numbers of antlerless elk and decent numbers of bulls. For units 3A/C,4A and 4B. Hunters in 3A/C & 4A did well, with most hunters seeing good numbers of both bulls and cows and the youth hunters in 3A/C harvesting above average numbers of elk. Cow herds were small averaging 2-5 animals per group and bulls were still bugling. Unit 4B, as usual had low success and low elk numbers reported. We will be posting pics of successful youth hunters on our Facebook page soon! For more info. visit us at: www.southwesternprocessing.com Good Luck to everyone headed into the field this weekend!

Lots of junior hunters hit the field this past weekend for elk and deer. Elk hunting in unit 6A was very tough for the second year in a row and success rates and elk numbers seem to match that. The Kiabab doe hunts had great success and most young hunters told us that they saw multiple deer each day and some nice bucks for the lucky tag holders of those permits. Unit 1 also had great success and elk numbers seem to be looking up. Unit 4A junior elk hunters also had above average success with young hunters filling their families freezers with lots of good meat & sausage. I hunted with a young hunter in 3A3C for deer, and although deer numbers seem a little down we were fortunate enough to find and harvest a really nice buck along with multiple other young hunters in these units. For all of you junior elk hunters for 3A3C we saw lots of elk every day and you should have a great hunt this weekend. Remember we are offering FREE skinning & we still have t- shirts left for the junior hunters who utilize our services at the Rim Resort in Forest Lakes. We will be posting pictures of some of the successful young hunters on our website soon! Good Luck to all the hunters headed into the field this weekend. www.southwesternprocessing.com for more information

Unfortunately unit 4B has not been the hotspot for bulls or cows for quite a few years. This year according to hunters out in the field is no different, with low numbers of both bulls & cows being seen. I am sure that there are decent numbers of both somewhere in the unit, but a lot of time scouting or a generous CW member might be the only way to find them. Good Luck!

General information from hunters in the field this past weekend for: Units 1,3AC,4AB,22 & 23. The rut is in full swing and hunters have done well so far. A lot of people are holding out for specific or huge bulls, but we have taken in some really good bulls to this point. Good news for antlerless hunters in units 1,3,4A & 23 as most hunters reported seeing good to above average numbers of elk. The junior hunters will have the first crack at these elk and should have excellent luck. We will be posting special offers for junior hunters later this week. Thanks again to everyone who dropped off an elk during the archery & early bull hunts and for letting us post your pictures. Lots going on in Arizona's outdoors this weekend. Good Luck to everyone headed into the field this week. To see new pictures go to www. southwesternprocessing.com

We are trying to post most of the pics of the better bulls and young hunters on our website with the information the hunter provides us. I think the best bull we've had in so far this weekend grossed 389. Thanks for the inquiry & check out new pics at www. Southwesternprocesing.com then click on connect.

Here is the general information that we gathered from hunter's in the field over this past weekends archery elk hunts. For Clints Well- Hunt units 5A,5BNS and 6A. Hunting in these units was difficult again over the weekend and into the first part of this week. Lots of hunter's left the field on Sunday leaving the diehards with little competition chasing elk this week. Overall in all of the units around CW rut activity had slightly increased, but was sporadic. Hunter's were reporting low to moderate number's of elk being spotted during day's in the field. We began to process elk from these units today and even some of the big bulls seem to have a lot of outside fat, indicating that the bulls have not really been into rutting. Generally by the early rifle hunts these bulls will be completely lean with no trace of fat by the end of the archery hunt if they are rutting hard. For Forest Lakes- Hunt units 3AC,4A,4B,23 & 22. Units 4A,3AC,22 & 23 have overall had more rut activity that unit 4B. Hunter's in these units have had much better success than the units around Clints Well and throughout this week and weekend a good number of trophy bull elk and elk in general have come in to our location. Early rifle hunter's should have a great hunt this upcoming weekend in these units. Hunter's overall were spotting multiple animals while out in the field each day and rut activity was good to above average with indications of increased activity each day. THANK YOU very much to everyone who has utilized our services this year and in past years! Good Luck to everyone with a tag going on right now and for any hunts the remainder of the season.
